Red Street Records singer/songwriter Cade Thompson is an artist to watch. Throughout his albums Bigger Story, and Empty Room, I love the confessional and biblical lyrics. If you've been desperately waiting for a fresh filling of Christ-focused catchy songs about relying completely on God's grace, then don't miss out on his catalog, which features the standout songs "Every Step of the Way," "Provider," "Empty Room," "Arms of Jesus," "Tears," and "Good God."

Cade's songs all express the deep love Jesus has for us and how His mercy and grace are something we don't deserve, which causes our hearts to overflow with gratefulness. Cade's music is a great expression of our thankfulness back to God. His songs are filled with confessional and biblical lyrics, expressing our gratitude for God's mercy and grace.

If you're looking for a fresh filling of Christ-focused catchy music about relying completely on God's grace, don't miss out on this up-and-coming new artist. I had the opportunity to interview Cade about his catchy and upbeat song, "Good God."

Please tell me the personal story behind this song.

The lyrics in my song "Good God" combined with its energy, reflect the confidence and joy we can all have in God's promise that through the highs and the lows of life, we can still rest in the goodness of God and walk in His amazing love, mercy, and grace. The character of our good God does not change despite our circumstances. For so many of us, these past couple of years have looked different than we could have imagined. It seems that what was once routine has been turned upside down. As I reflect on these times, I see the goodness of God.

Which Bible verses connect to the message of the song?

Psalm 91:2 (NKJV): "I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV): "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

Philippians 1:21 (NIV): "For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."

Matthew 11:28 (NIV): "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

John 8:36 (NIV): "So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

Romans 8:31 (NIV): "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

John 1:12 (NIV): "Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."

1 John 3:18 (VOICE): My little children, don't just talk about love as an idea or a theory. Make it your true way of life, and live in the pattern of gracious love.

Ephesians 2:1 (NKJV): "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins."

What is the takeaway message?

This song challenges the listener to see how God is actively moving in our lives. God is still working in your life every day, every step of the way. The more I read the Bible, the more I see how following Jesus is counter-cultural. Our confident hope isn't in anything we can do but in Jesus.

The album came from the story of how my career started and how it has evolved. I started writing songs in my bedroom in middle school, and those moments shaped my heartbeat of who I am today. Empty Room expresses the power of spending time regularly with God in solitude and, in my case, in my own empty room. I can't wait for people to hear this special project.

Lyrics

Woke up with the sunshine
Shining on down
Coming through the window pane
Got so many blessings
All around
And joy written on my face

My worries are gone
Cause I found a love
And it's lifting me up
It's more than enough
More than enough

I got holy ground underneath my feet
I got grace like rain washing over me
I got all the love I could ever need
I got a good God, good God
I got mercy running through my veins
Got a freedom song I can't contain
And I know it's gonna be a good day
I got a good God, good God, good God

There's nothing like your kindness
Holding me up
Every time I'm feeling low
There's peace like a river
Never runs dry
Overflowing in my soul

My worries are gone
Cause I found a love
And it's lifting me up
It's more than enough
More than enough

I got holy ground underneath my feet
I got grace like rain washing over me
I got all the love I could ever need
I got a good God, good God
I got mercy running through my veins
Got a freedom song I can't contain
And I know it's gonna be a good day
I got a good God, good God, good God

It's gonna be a good day
'Cause I got a good God
It's gonna be a good day
'Cause I got a good, good God
No matter what comes my way
Seasons always change
But He's a good God
He's a good, good God

I got holy ground underneath my feet
I got grace like rain washing over me
I got all the love I could ever need
I got a good God, good God
I got mercy running through my veins
Got a freedom song I can't contain
And I know it's gonna be a good day
I got a good God
Good God, good God
I got a good God
Good God, good God
I got a good God
Good God, good God

Closing Thoughts

This song has become my personal anthem, and I sing along at the top of my lungs to the sincere, joyful, praiseful lyrics. I love how prayers and songs of praise are a communal experience that we can all share. I think the Lord wants us to long for Heaven and a relationship with Him.

When the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we have a personal relationship with the Comforter and a peace that surpasses understanding to know that this fallen world isn't all we are ultimately living for. As His sons and daughters, we must take God's love with us everywhere we go and know His love goes with us.

I have spent time reflecting on and singing this song to God, and it always comforts me. "Good God" tells us that the solution is Jesus. The one ordained and anointed by God for our salvation. He is the only one that can save us--the only one who can turn our broken dreams into testimonies of joy.

The Good News of the Gospel, which this song portrays, is that God accepts us--no matter what we've done or we're going through. We spend much time worrying, but we must let that go and allow the Lord to be our redeemer.

The beauty of a song like "Good God" is to allow these words of comfort to cover us and celebrate God's joyfulness in sharing our stories. It is a beautiful picture of His love for us. When you listen to the song, allow the thought of "My worries are gone/Cause I found a love/And it's lifting me up/It's more than enough/More than enough" to bring you to a place of worship. As believers, we need to take time to be encouraged to live out 1 Corinthians 9:22: "To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some."

The "irrefutable argument" we have as believers is to share our story of grace. This song celebrates the day we were saved from our sins and causes listeners to reflect on and celebrate their salvation experience. It's about submitting ourselves to Him and His goodness and allowing His blood to cover us and run through our veins. I'm grateful for the reminder that God's love for me is unconditional and that He accepts me just as I am. And through His grace, I'm a new creation and have been freed from my past mistakes and negative thoughts.

"Good God" offers a message of optimism that leads listeners into an encouraging spirit of appreciation of God's kindness. By stepping into the Lord's ability instead of relying on ourselves, we are empowered by the supernatural ability of God. God loves you so much. Lean on Him, and He'll give you strength. We sometimes put up a wall between us and God, and He wants us to come home to Him. His love for us will never change, and nothing can separate us from it. We were dead in our sins, and by grace, we were saved and made alive in Christ! That's a reason to sing, "No matter what comes my way/Seasons always change/But He's a good God/He's a good, good God." Amen to that.
