Tedashii - "MMA Freestyle" One of the pioneers of Reach Records dating back nearly 20 years ago, Houston's Tedashii drops his first new solo music of 2023 in the classic hip-hop form of a freestyle. The latest single details being in a constant fight for his life (soul), yet refusing to give up or lose. Resistance appears in all sizes, forms, and obstacles; therefore, the battle seems neverending. T-Dot's overall cadence, metaphoric dominance and play on words are beyond impressive. Also, he's cleared his Instagram profile as of the beginning of this month setting up for something special in the near future. One of my favorite bars was, "Devil busy, got me fighting for my life like MMA / went through hard times but something always on my dinner plate / God came in my life and told me, 'Move and let me demonstrate'." Canon - "Bend the Whip" Reflection Music Group's Canon drops his third single since May related to his upcoming next installment of the Loose Canon mixtape series (number four). The latest record plays like a highlight reel of Canon's 13-year career as a CHH artist. He's always possessed one of the quickest, yet controlled lyrical deliveries in the space. Listeners get an opportunity to listen through a track a few times to capture everything he's attempting to convey verbally. Lot 2 by Nomis During the midst of 2020's global pandemic, Nomis released the first Lot mixtape in July. This was a surprise drop by the artist, as no official promotion was exhibited prior to its release. Another first was the task of production, as KDaGreat handled all things production-wise allowing Nomis to focus on the creative writing process. The results transformed into one of his most unique pieces of musical art. Fast forward three years later, the duo partnered again for the second installment.
Given KDaGreat's African upbringing, a creative soundscape existed throughout both sonically pleasing and rhythmically dense. The concepts throughout rely on Nomis' path as a black, Christian father. He also touches on multiple life scenarios where he feels are otherwise misrepresented by the culture. Lot 2 is brazenly transparent, brutally informative, and a work of art dipped in goals of helping humans to better understand their place in the world.
