Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Ty Brasel - "Godly" 4 Against 5 and Tennessee's own Ty Brasel drops only his second single this year. Thought and coordination pours into most release schedules and I'm sure the lack of releases is with purpose. With Brasel's art, listeners can hear the added attention to detail and artistic touches each song possesses. The song speaks to how Brasel has acended into a deeper walk with Christ over the last several years and compliments God as the source throughout. I can't pinpoint the origin of the various production sounds and attributes, but it flows with Brasel's delivery seamlessly. His sound adds refinement with each release. K-Drama - "40,000 FT" CHH veteran and Cincinnati's own K-Drama returns with his seventh single of 2023. Also, he's released an EP with ties to a motion picture soundtrack this year. The song speaks to the goodness of God when we're living within His blessings and favor. Also, when you put in the work; seeing the fruits of your labor in the name of Jesus. K-Drama extends his talent profile to that of a prolific producer. Unique elements exist throughout blending synthesizer tones with trap drums. The track is motivational and the energy keeps listeners smiling throughout. Stream "40,000 FT" on Spotify and Apple Music.
BigBreeze - "Don't Touch Me" During 2023 alone, Atlanta's BigBreeze has released seven singles and three EPs. The latest drop is a collaboration with I Project and stamped a certified bop. I could listen to the production aspects alone multiple times. His funk-driven, energetic content adds seasoning to quite a tasteful flavor of sound. The song speaks to God's goodness and faithful and the strength available to believers through divine power over the enemy. Stream "Don't Touch Me" on Spotify and Apple Music.
