I'm honored to be a part of NewReleaseToday, where we celebrate the hard work that Christian artists put in day in and day out. We recently highlighted some of the best in the last year through our We Love Awards; I hope you were able to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to checking out the latest releases on NRT in 2024.
For anyone wondering why we highlight this genre, I'm happy to share. Christian rock and metal profoundly impact me and other fans by providing a space where the dynamic energy of these genres intersects with themes of faith, hope, and redemption. The genre's lyrics resonate with rock fans spiritually, offering inspiration and reflection while creating a sense of community among individuals who share a love for music and a commitment to Christianity. Beyond being a form of entertainment, Christian rock and metal serve as a unique and meaningful cultural intersection, allowing listeners to celebrate their religious identity within a genre often associated with counterculture and rebellion.
Project 86 - OMNI Pt. 2
Project 86, a stalwart in the rock music scene, has left an indelible mark with its powerful sound and thought-provoking lyrics. Renowned for its dynamic blend of alternative rock and post-hardcore, Project 86 has consistently pushed creative boundaries since its formation in the late '90s. In the last couple of years, the band made waves by releasing their final record, OMNI,marking the end of an era. This farewell release showcases their musical evolution and reflects their enduring impact on the rock landscape. As they bid farewell, their legacy stands as a testament to the enduring influence of their distinctive sound on the broader rock music scene. OMNI was released in two parts, with the second part out now. It is an intense and enjoyable musical experience, with some of the most aggressive and experimental music.
Impending Doom - Last Days
Impending Doom, a formidable force in the metal scene, captivates listeners with their brutal and uncompromising sound and spiritual foundations. What sets Impending Doom apart is their unwavering commitment to infusing their music with themes of faith and spirituality. For them, faith isn't just a lyrical backdrop; it's a driving force that shapes their worldview and imbues their music with a greater sense of purpose. With each new music release, Impending Doom reaffirms its position as a significant presence in the metal landscape, drawing in listeners with its musical prowess and unapologetic exploration of faith. The latest, an Eternal EPwith three brutal songs, continues to cement their place in the Christian metal scene. I enjoy Impending Doom's music, and while this new EP doesn't quite live up to their 2021 Hellbent EP, it's still worth listening to.
Bind The Dark - "Invitation"
One of the smaller communities in the harder Christian music world is post-hardcore. Yet, those who create music in that space excel at it. I'm so excited to discover the rock band Bind The Dark as they carry that torch brightly. Their recently released debut single, "Invitation," is a clear example of why we need more post-hardcore music. This song is part one of the story of a band member's radical conversion to Christianity from Satanism. I eagerly await more music from Bind The Dark and look forward to hearing more of their story.
