From the heart of Alabama, CAIN, a family trio (Taylor, Madison, and Logan Cain), brings a unique blend of harmonies infused with the nostalgic soft rock sounds of the 70s. Having toured extensively in the U.S., UK, and Canada, including notable festivals, the band now embraces a divine calling to Christian music.
Madison reflects on their transformative journey, shifting from seeking mainstream success to a deeper purpose. The family dropped their Christian project, Rise Up, in 2021, which includes their standout singles, “Rise Up (Lazarus),” “The Commission,” and “I’m So Blessed.”
Rise Up introduced the world to CAIN’s music ministry. Their follow-up album, Jesus Music, takes the family’s ministry one step further with singles “Any More” and “Windows Down.”
CAIN’s songs are an effort to respond to people's hurt from a place of deep authenticity and relatability. Their music has connected with my daughters and me, and their biblically inspired lyrics represent how true happiness and our identity come from our relationship with God. I spoke with Logan Cain about their song “Jesus Music.”
Please tell me the personal story behind this song.
Hebrews 12 opens with, “Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us run the race marked before us.” This is what “Jesus Music” represents to us. It’s a thank-you note to the great cloud of Christian artists who came before us and the believers who walk beside us. It encourages the next generation to fall in love with Jesus and make Jesus music of their own. We make music for Jesus because of the heroes who showed us how. Our new song includes the titles of some of the greatest songs we’ve ever known–and now we get to celebrate that kingdom impact together.
Which Bible verses connect to the message of the song?
Matthew 5:14-16 (MSG): "Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I will hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand--shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven."
Matthew 6:33-34 (NKJV): "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Romans 8:28 (VOICE): “We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV): "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
Philippians 1:6 (NIV): “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV): “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
What is the takeaway message?
The song states, "I can only imagine where I'd end up if it wasn't for Jesus and how He loves/When the world gets too loud trying to steal my attention/I just drown it out when I dive in and listen." The music video features Christian artists Mac Powell, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Ben Fuller, and MercyMe’s Bart Millard.
For me, the song that had an impact on my life was “Until the Whole World Hears” by Casting Crowns, and getting to mention that song title in the chorus and getting to live out the dream of making Jesus music to hopefully inspire other people the same way we’ve been inspired is what this song is all about.

Closing Thoughts
This song made me think about the “Jesus music” I grew up on. I’m so grateful for those songs that spoke to situations I’ve faced and ministered to me time after time. If I were to create my own Jesus music video, I would include some of the artists that CAIN featured, and I’d add Jars of Clay, dcTalk, Newsboys, and Audio Adrenaline.
My story of the grace of when I was lost and Jesus found me happened in 1999. I was in my car listening to a Christian music album, and at the end of the album, the artist shared his testimony, which was also my story.
I finally admitted to myself and God that I’m a sinner and I can't save myself. I pulled to the side of the road and sobbed as I was invited to join in saying the sinner's prayer. I confessed my sins, begged for forgiveness, and accepted Jesus as my Savior. I felt the presence of God there with me in my car, and I've never been the same.
CAIN’s latest album, Jesus Music, is an excellent collection of confessional and authentic expressions of faith. Each song is catchy, exciting, and worshipful. After just a few listens, these songs will have you singing along at the top of your lungs.
After listening to the album, I am stirred with compassion to love people as Jesus loves us. That's the heart behind this album, and thanks to CAIN for blessing us with their music and singing the truth of the Gospel for the kingdom of God.
It is important to remember that hope comes from God, and we must have faith in Him rather than relying on our own actions. Be encouraged by the light of Jesus shining in all of us based on our trust in Him. I’m excited that Jesus shines for all to see and believe in Him. We can all practice letting our light shine so others may praise our heavenly Father. Join CAIN and live out these words with certainty: “I’m gonna sing it/Till the whole world hears/That Jesus music/Thank You, Lord/For that Jesus music!” Amen to that.
