Okay, technically, Christian contemporary mainstays Point of Grace are still active and making music. But there is a long run for about a decade in the 1990s when every single they released to radio would not only be a hit but would reach No. 1 on the charts. So much so that they could release an album in 2003 featuring their 24 straight No. 1 hits. It's a record even some of the genre's most successful bands may need help to replicate.

Each of Point of Grace's first five records is certified Gold or Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. And while no single album or song has gone on to define them above all else, their prolific catalog of hits is immense. In looking back on their songs to compose this article, I had even forgotten how much of the soundtrack of contemporary Christian music in the 1990s and 2000s owes itself to these talented ladies.

Take a look at some of their essential tracks and reacquaint yourself with some of these chart-topping hits from each of their main albums.

Point of Grace - "I'll Be Believing"

The band's introductory hit introduced their winning formula. Soaring choruses, angelic harmonies, beautiful God-centered lyrics, and hopeful encouragement. This simple song of faith kicked open the doors for the band and was the first of many hits to come.

The Whole Truth - "The Great Divide"

While many acts suffer a "sophomore slump" creatively or commercially after a popular debut, no such fate befell the ladies of Point of Grace. Hits like this proved they were in it for the long haul and would keep the momentum of their debut going. A standout of 1990s Christian radio, you'll be sure to get this one stuck in your head.

Love & Other Mysteries - "Keep the Candle Burning"

This song is one of the group's most iconic hits. Its catchy choral hooks and unapologetic optimism make it instantly memorable and recognizable.

Steady On - "Steady On"

"Steady On" is an engaging anthem about the joy of following Christ. Other notable hits from this album include "My God" and "The Song Is Alive." These songs continued the band's unprecedented streak of No. 1 hits, encouraging listeners to keep steady in their faith.

Free To Fly - "Blue Skies"

By this point, the group was comfortable with their sound and knew how to craft a song that would connect with listeners. These harmonies in this song are gorgeous and will delight both old and new listeners.

24 - "Day By Day"

After 24 straight No. 1 hits, Point of Grace released a compilation titled 24 to celebrate, including one more new song. Given the pressure, the song had to be a bold choice that would likely hit No. 1. The peppy "Day by Day" met the challenge. An exciting and catchy hit that screamed radio airplay, the song lit up the charts. Boasting the band's signature harmonies but with a sleeker, modern production, the song earned its place among its top hits.

I Choose You - "I Choose You"

While this album was the first that saw Point of Grace's singles begin to chart lower than No. 1 on the charts, songs like "Waiting in the Wings" still notched them a No. 1. This title track also cracked the Top 10 and was a standout anthem that showed the ladies capitalizing on the harmonious sound that made them a household name, while still growing sonically to try out new things. While not the most famous song from the band, the slow burn power of this song still makes it a standout in their catalog.

How You Live - "How You Live"

I remember seeing the music video for this all over Spirit TV back when my family had SkyAngel. With a decidedly more country sound than their standard, the song managed to connect with the contemporary Christian music audience and cement another solid hit in the band's repertoire.

Directions Home - "Come To Jesus"

Another relatable hit by these industry veterans continued the group's trend for anthemic, inspirational, and encouraging lyrics pointing to Christ. A tracking style that showed the group's growth and maturity with their audience.

Beautiful Name  - "A Thousand Little Things"

This is one of the band's most recent non-seasonal singles. While over a decade old, the song still sounds fresh and relevant, showing that the group could adapt its sound. Here's hoping more hits will be in the works soon.
