Last year, Red Street Records Recording artist Iveth Luna released her debut EP, Just Like Jesus. Iveth's album delivers a powerful message of restoration and healing that magnifies how God will continually provide support and carry us, no matter how desperate the situation or how big the obstacles are.
This new bilingual Christian singer is truly living out a faith journey, like Abraham and Sarah in the Bible. She's living in faith and with hopeful expectations. Iveth is following God's leading in her life without always knowing where she is going next. I love the reflective and reverent feel of "Just Like Jesus," and Iveth has a way of inviting me into worship with her. I had the chance to speak with Iveth about her infectious new single, "Right On Time."
Please tell me the personal story behind this song.
I wrote this song after getting engaged and looking back at God's perfect timing. It was my first trip to Nashville after my engagement. God is always right on time. I needed to write a song celebrating God's timing. I've written songs about the waiting, and I wanted to have a song about how His timing is better than our timing. How many times have you prayed for something and had a plan in your head on how things are going to work out, and it doesn't work out the way you planned? Many times, I've looked back on the moments in my life when God's plans were better than my plans, and we need to drop our anxieties and worries because He has our best interests in mind.
This is my testimony and a song celebrating the faithfulness of God whose plans are far better than I could have imagined. I have often lived for the next phase of my life, but God has taught me to trust Him because He's always right on time. This is a song to build your hope and assurance that God has your back. There is joy in the waiting.
Which Bible verses connect to the message of the song?
Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV): "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart."
Psalm 27:14 (ESV): "Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!"
Habakkuk 2:3-4 (MSG): "And then God answered: "Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what's coming. It aches for the coming--it can hardly wait! And it doesn't lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It's on its way. It will come right on time."
Matthew 17:20-21 (NIV): He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Romans 8:28 (VOICE): "We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan."
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV): "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV): "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
Hebrews 11:1 (NLT): "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see."
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV): "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:6 (NKJV): "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV): But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
Hebrews 13:8: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
What is the takeaway message?
It's normal to have anxiety in the waiting. We are told to crucify those thoughts and have Christ take them captive. We need to celebrate the waiting and know that God's timing is perfect. "Right On Time" is so special to me because I have experienced both sides of the coin when it comes to worrying about my future.
Whether I find myself rushing and striving for the next thing or having anxiety over the next phase in life, I want to remind my soul of all the times God has been faithful to me in His perfect timing. This song reminds our hearts to have confidence in God's timing and plan because of His perfect track record. I may not always be on time, but I can trust that God always is.
Lyrics
Right now, want that mountain to move
Right now, want the ocean to part
Right now, God, I'm looking for You
And I'm wondering where You are
But why do I worry?
God, I know You haven't failed me yet
Why do I worry?
You prove it over and over again
Every every every time
Jesus, You're right on right on right on time
Jesus, never been a minute, hour, day
When my God has ever showed up late
'Cause every every every time
You're right there, right on time
Like a movie when all hope is lost
And the hero comes and saves the day
That's who You are to me, You're never far from me
Even when I have to wait
So why do I worry?
God, I know you haven't failed me yet
Why do I worry?
You prove it over and over again
Every every every time
Jesus, You're right on right on right on time
Jesus, never been a minute, hour, day
When my God has ever showed up late
'Cause every every every time
You're right there, right on time
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Got a God who always comes through, yeah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There ain't nothing my God can't do, yeah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Got a God who always comes through, yeah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There ain't nothing my God can't do, yeah
Every every every time
Jesus, You're right on right on right on time
Jesus, never been a minute, hour, day
When my God has ever showed up late
'Cause every every every time
You're right there, right on time
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Got a God who always comes through, yeah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There ain't nothing my God can't do, yeah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Got a God who always comes through, yeah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There ain't nothing my God can't do, yeah
Closing Thoughts
Trust in Jesus, and don't forget that you are never alone. This truth provides comfort during uncertain times and reminds you not to worry about things beyond your control.
God is love. We love because He first loved us. Have joy and worship loudly about the love of God in your life. His grace takes away anxiety, guilt, and shame. Know that being His is enough. In Iveth's vocals, I hear a sincere yearning for the Lord--a thankfulness in her heart for God's mercy and grace.
I'm completely convicted by the strong lyrics and find immense comfort in this song. The Bible says to trust in what God says about us, no matter how we feel about ourselves. In many areas of our lives, especially as we've faced this coronavirus pandemic, we spend a lot of time worrying, as well as living in fear and anxiety.
The message of "Right On Time" will challenge you to think about your own doubts. It serves as a reminder that Jesus calls on all of us to rely on Him and the power of His resurrection. It also gives you some added reassurance: He has overcome death and fear.
You can know He's real, near, and just a breath away. This song represents the victory you have over your battles before you even know the earthly outcome, simply by trusting that God is going before you and He wins. You can face your daily battles with more courage and strength, resting in His promise (Romans 8:28, "God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.")
Strive to know God, and He will come to you. You have the privilege of knowing Him intimately. He lives in you and has made you His dwelling place. He's constantly making all things new in your life. And He wants to take your thoughts captive and renew your mind.
God loves you deeply. When you feel overwhelmed by emotions, turn to Him, and He'll give you the strength you need. When you follow Jesus, you can have confidence that God is always with you and will never leave your side.
Know that Jesus loves you and has something better planned for you if you trust in Him as your Savior. God is bigger than any calamity that we experience in this world. Things don't go as we want or even how we pray for God to work in our lives. By reading the Bible every day, God wants us to have a daily reminder not to be afraid. Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
God tells us in the Bible that with faith, we can do anything in Christ. The key as a follower of Jesus is to walk by faith and to be guided in your daily walk by prayer and God's infallible Word, the Bible. I sing this song to God with all my heart and know for a fact, "So why do I worry? God, I know You haven't failed me yet/Why do I worry? You prove it over and over again/Every, every, every, time/Jesus, You're right on, right-on, right-on time." Amen to that.
