Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Below, we listen to a few highlights and list the rest for your own discovery. As always, follow our New Christian Rap & Hip Hop playlist on Spotify and Apple Music to listen to all the latest.
Dee-1 feat. Project Pat - "All Glory to God" Mission Vision Music's Dee-1 teamed up with Memphis' own Project Pat for a certified anthem as we approach summertime. Dee-1 has made it abundantly clear of his mission to reach mainstream artists and assist closely with steering clear of profane content smothered in the love for money, sex, drugs, and all things sinful from the streets. Within the past year, a slew of online videos and content has focused on Dee-1's mission. This single focal point revolves around the goodness and faithfullness of God regardless of the dire situations both Dee-1 and Project Pat face often. It's impactful with the energy on maximum as the catchy vibes pushes heads to nod. The goal of Christian rappers is to reflect hope, love, and mirror that "not of this world" attitude. The impact made behind the scenes with artists in the world digs deeper than headlines and lyrics. Stream "All Glory to God" on Spotify and Apple Music.
Warren Christian - "Scoreboard Freestyle" Arizonian transplant from the Bronx, Warren Christian provides his own take on the hip-hop beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake which is plaguing social media timelines everywhere. Slinging diss tracks back and forth with an avid audience of the CHH space closely watching, but why? Even though CHH artists should strive to fine tune their artistry and skill set inline with the core best artists of this time, we're still called to be in this world, not of it. Too much focus has spread to what the world is doing and saying as opposed to what God is calling us to listen to, watch, and utter out of love. Warren Christian addresses the idolatry reflected from the CHH space. Can anyone identify the sample used at the beginning of this track? Stream "Scoreboard Freestyle" on Spotify and Apple Music.
Yung Kriss - "Ain't Too Tired"
One of the best to do it in the Chrisitan R&B/Urban Soul space, Holy Vibes Only's Yung Kriss releases a surprise new single. The content of "Ain't Too Tired" is based off of Galatians 6:9 when Paul speaks about never being weary when doing good to and for others. Jazzy, energetic, soulful, the track fills all the checkboxes for a classic R&B track. When thinking of forerunners in the artform known as faith-based R&B, Yung Kriss is at the forefront along the side of Phil J, Jaylon Ashaun, Zach Paradis, DOE, and quite a few others. Produced by the multi-talented Joel Setien, the energy throughout fills the heart and mind with smiles. Stream "Ain't Too Tired" on Spotify and Apple Music.
