Do you ever look at the state of the world around you and get overwhelmed? Especially as a follower of Jesus, it's easy to be grieved and discouraged when we're being bombarded with news and people's opinions on social media. Even when we look at the circumstances people in our spheres of influence are facing or our own personal lives, it doesn't take long to realize that so much of what's happening in this world is so far from what Jesus says is good and helpful and right. So much is broken that needs to be healed. So much is far from the truth and way of life Jesus calls us to follow.
And it's in that moment that we realize we need something bigger than ourselves. We need something bigger than the next clever event or gimmick to fix things. We just need Jesus. It's in Him alone that we find forgiveness and salvation from our sins, healing for our broken hearts and sick bodies, right morality where there is disobedience to God, and truth where we are believing lies. It's in Him alone that we experience peace and reconciliation where there is strife and division, and where we find true hope and purpose. We need Jesus to do something that only He can do to point our hearts to Him and bring transformation. And the good news is He can.
In "Honestly, We Just Need Jesus," Terrian not only prays for Jesus to intervene in the world around her but also in her own heart as well in places that are not aligned with His heart and ways. That's a good model for us to pray. Let this song inspire you to pray that Jesus would do an amazing work in your life and in the world around you that lines up with His character, His desires, and His standards.
