Now, with her debut single "God of Wonders," produced by talented music producer Vernon Hill--renowned for singles like "Jesus Is Calling" and "Unshaken"--gaining Billboard Soft AC Radio charts and reaching international and Sirius XM Gospel Radio airwaves, Otisia is set to make her mark.
As one of NewReleaseToday's featured artists, we had the opportunity to speak with Otisia about her music and ministry.
You've got a great YouTube channel where you share with women about empowerment and positivity. What has that experience taught you?
My women's ministry, GoodThing, has taught me the importance of a Godly community. My GoodThing sisters have helped me realize that we are all navigating life with its ups and downs. Often when we face trials and tribulations, we want to isolate ourselves because we feel like no one understands how we feel. However, I have learned that by speaking with others, I am not alone. We all go through challenges, and that's why we need Jesus and each other.
Do you have to deal with negative comments on the channel at all? How do you encourage others to deal with negativity in their lives?
Negative comments aren't received often, but I have experienced one or two. Personally, I focus on the positive rather than the negative. Throughout my life, I've learned that people's opinions change, but the Lord remains the same. Therefore, my focus and encouragement are always to please the Lord and strive to do everything to glorify Him. In this, regardless of how others may feel about us or how we use our gifts, we can have peace knowing that we are doing the Lord's will and He is pleased with us.
Tell us about your debut single, "God Of Wonders."
"God of Wonders" is my personal declaration and reminder that nothing is impossible for my God. I was inspired by the Psalmists in the book of Psalms, where they remembered the Lord amidst their trials and tribulations. This practice is essential for us as believers.
In "God of Wonders," I desire to help others and myself remember that the God who performed wonders throughout history, as recorded in the Old and New Testaments, is the same God living in us and empowering us to overcome anything life brings our way. There is nothing too big for our God.
As a pastor's wife and lifelong servant in the church, I'm sure you've seen many of God's wonders. What are a few that stand out?
The first wonder I experienced was my call to salvation. Hearing God's voice and feeling His loving presence was a miracle for me as a former unbeliever. Seeing others saved by grace has also been a blessing. I then experienced the miracle of God transforming my heart and mind, making me a completely new person through Jesus. This same transforming power has touched many lives in our church.
I have also witnessed God's provision in seemingly impossible situations, where He made a way out of no way. I have seen God as a great physician, protecting and healing many of my family members and individuals in our congregation. One of my favorite wonders is knowing God as my Father and Friend. Throughout my walk with God, there have been many times when others were unavailable or unreliable. In those moments, God revealed Himself to me and has been my constant and dependable help in times of trouble, temptation, and celebration.
What's next for you musically?
I'm still enjoying the release of my first single, "God of Wonders." I'm leading worship at my local church, Transformation Christian Fellowship, and continue to write and record music. I also plan to release a new single with my church's worship team, Transformation Music, later this year. My prayer is to join a women's conference or tour. We'll see what God has in store.
How can we be praying for you?
Please pray for my strength in the Lord. Pray for my health to be able to go to the places and do all the things God is calling me to do. All prayer is appreciated.
