In this edition of the Christian Rock Recap, I dive into some exciting new releases from the heavy hitters of Christian rock and metal. Not to mention we have some songs from long-term favorites like Skillet's new single that marks their independent journey. Convictions' new record has also been released, and it's an amazing metalcore record. An excellent debut from Heal The Hurt is out, too. And don't miss some of the rising Christian rock artists from Resurrection Records. If you’re a fan of heavy music with a message, these bands are must-listens. Check out their latest songs and find your new favorites on the playlists!
Bloodlines - Holiness Cries
One of the most outwardly-expressive Christian metal bands out there is Bloodlines. From their 2019 debut, Hostile Minds, to the brand new EP, Holiness Cries, they've never wavered in their proclaming of Christ in their music. The new EP is continuing their partnership with Facedown Records and features five amazing songs. Each song can take you on a worship-filled, heavy metal journey. Any fan of Christian metal needs to hear this.
Then It Ends - "Void" and "Lost"
The metalcore act Then It Ends is in full swing in 2024. In case you missed it, they are releasing a new single every month. The most recent was a double release, two songs meant to be listened together--"Void" and "Lost." This follows the band's livestream where they played the new album in full. These songs continue to showcase the band's continual mastery of modern metalcore, while infusing songs with screams of hope. I love hearing the improvement in both vocals and music with every album that comes from one of the most active and hardworking bands in the scene right now.
With Blood Comes Cleansing - "The Inverted Crucifixion (Peter)"
Biblical and historical truths put to death metal is a perfect combo--one that With Blood Comes Cleansing has mastered. The vocalist from hardcore band Southpaw is a nice touch, providing a hardcore element to the brutal song. Considering this is only the second of the singles from their upcoming album, I can tell this is going to be a brutal and awesome record. Rumor has it that a 12 track album focusing on each of Christ's disciple's deaths is coming and it's going to be epic.
