Self-Titled (Anike) by Anike (fka Wande) Reach Records’ first lady, Anike, drops her sophomore release under a new name with a new assignment in her God-given purpose. On July 3, the artist formally known as Wande changed her stage (and birth name) to Anike denoting, “This change is deeply meaningful to me, reflecting a departure from my previous legal names Mutiat and Yewande. Each carried meaning not aligned with my faith such as reincarnation and devotion to other gods. The name “Anike” means “someone you cherish, care for, love, and don’t take for granted. It serves as a reminder of my inherent worth, cherished by my Creator, and this affirmation is something I wish to echo throughout my music.”
Anike released two singles prior to the sophomore album arriving nearly four and a half years after her debut project titled, Exit. Both “PRAY FOR ME” and “HAVE FUN” were released over the summer and gave fans a sneak peak at Anike’s revived sound and direction. Her project signifies a journey of surrender, restoration, and breakthrough. Her innovative creations cross a multitude of genres including R&B, Afrobeat, pop contemporary, gospel, and of course hip-hop. Feature artists include Jekalyn Carr, Guyclaude, Porsha Love, Lee Vasi, CeJae, DOE, Bayo & Yele, Terrian, Chastity, Jordan L’Oreal, and label mates Limoblaze, WHATUPRG, Lecrae, and Hulvey.
Favorites from the massive 18-track compilation include “Move,” “Heavenly” featuring Hulvey, and “New Day” featuring Terrian. Toyalove - "Need Some Mo'" RMG Amplify’s Toyalove drops her ninth single of 2024. The single is about individuals choosing peace as the “bigger” person as opposed to violence. Also, there’s discussion of the power the Holy Spirit provides (as our Helper) gifted by God. Production-wise, the track is energetic, filled with 808s and drums. This aligns perfectly with fans of Anike, Porsha Love, and Childlike CiCi. Stream “Need Some Mo’” on Spotify and Apple Music.
UNTIDLD feat. Scribe Music x Bill B. - "Fresh Wind"
The Listening Session's (TLS) UNTIDLD, Scribe Music, and Bill B. team up yet again to provide another heater. The latest single is a showcase of God's given talents to godly men glorifying the name of Christ through musical art. Scribe Music was the MVP of the track providing the soulful hook, mouth-induced saxophone, and several other idealy-placed verbal contribtions. Let's not forget UNTIDLD and Bill B.'s fire verses included too. Glory given to God? Check. Worship-like rap song? Check. One of my favorites in 2024? Check.
