What are you living for? “Praises” from Elevation Rhythm and Forrest Frank is all about living to honor and praise God. This world defines success and gauges what’s worth living for based on objects like money, fame, achievements, and doing whatever fulfills your desires with no constraints. But here’s what the Bible says, and it’s like what the lyrics of “Praises” say, too.
1 John 2:15-17 (NLT) says, “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. The world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.”
If we can stay humble and manage them godly, having worldly achievements, goals, money, or notoriety is okay. But living for those things in and of themselves is not what God made us to do. Living your life to praise God and do what pleases Him is the best way to live. It’s the most fulfilling and the most effective way for you to have an impact on others. It’s living, not for temporary things that will fade away with this life, but for things that will matter for eternity. Next time you listen to this song, be reminded to live for what matters most.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NLT): “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord; you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
Lyrics
All my friends just wanna be famous [Intro: Choir, Choir & Forrest Frank] I’ll give You my praises I’m giving my praises up to You I’ll give You my praises I’m giving my praises up to You [Chorus: Forrest Frank & Choir] All my friends just wanna be famous Living life with a lot of time wasted I choose You, You’re what’s missing I choose You, now I’m different Everyone’s saying that I’m crazy Good thing they’re not God who made me So let ’em talk, it don’t phase me I’m gonna give You all my praises
