Pop artist and songwriter Jordan Feliz sells records and wins awards. He has four chart-topping studio albums and multiple singles on the Billboard charts, and he’s won some Dove Awards. Jordan’s breakout hit, "The River," earned him a Dove Award.

Heartbreak and redemption inspired his first album. After that, he ended up in the middle of a rapidly expanding career, trying to balance success and caring for his family. In 2019, Jordan took a short break to examine his priorities. He realized that his career had overshadowed his faith and family, so he made some changes.

After finding new inspiration to glorify God in 2020, Jordan returned to creating honest and moving music, starting with his song "Glorify." Fast-forward to 2024, and Jordan continues to share his unique blend of pop, soul, and Gospel, infused with openness and optimism, with his latest album, Everything Good.

In this Essentials article, NRT contributors Kevin Davis and Paul Phillips team up to list some of Jordan’s most successful songs. Kevin draws from a series of interviews he conducted with Jordan over the years, and Paul fills in the blanks with information and quotes. We not only list Jordan’s best songs, but we also offer you a deeper understanding of their inspiration.

“Praise God for That”

In June 2024, Jordan released "Praise God for That,” a song that follows his top 10 hit "The King Is Alive" to radio. In a press release, Jordan says, "This song is all about how much gratitude and acknowledging the blessings God has given us, no matter how small or large, can change the perspective of your mentality every day. And sharing that, as believers, shows the world that Jesus changes everything. So, let's 'praise God for that' together."

“Somebody Loves You”

“Somebody Loves You” is a powerful anthem of love, hope, and divine reassurance. The song speaks directly to those who feel lost, forgotten, or overwhelmed, reminding listeners that God deeply loves them. It’s a song that speaks to the core of our need for connection, affirming that God's love remains constant and unchanging no matter where we are.

In a press release, Jordan says, “This song was written for anyone who’s ever felt alone or unworthy. I wanted to remind people that no matter what they're going through, they’re loved beyond measure. God’s love isn’t just for the good moments—it’s also there in the broken ones. I hope this song brings encouragement and peace to anyone who needs it.”

To Kevin, Jordan says, “I have spoken this truth to many people but didn’t let it into my heart. I had never put it into practice. God was showing me I needed that for myself, which led me to write this song about Him coming into my heart and asking Him to heal me and be able to release the burden I’ve carried about what I can do for God. I can do nothing for Him except be a light for Him.”

“Next to Me”

Jordan says that “Next to Me” is about a lifetime struggle of wanting to do things on his own strength. He and other songwriters referred to Psalm 145:18-19 when creating this song: “This world can trick our minds into thinking somehow. We can make things better on our own. Or, we don’t have to invite Jesus into our circumstances. This song reminds us that He’s right here, next to us. Next to us in our hurt. Next to us in our joy. Next to us in our suffering. He’s never left your side, and He never will.”

“The River”

“The River,” based on John 7:38, is an invitation to anyone who hears it. It invites us to take whatever we have and run to Jesus. It invites us to go down in amazing grace and rise, being made new. The song is a testimony for Jordan and his wife, Jamie, who lost their first pregnancy in a miscarriage before delivering their baby daughter, Jolie. “This was a considerable writing influence for me on this album. Through that experience, God taught me that He is always there and is the true satisfaction you may be trying to fill through someone or something else that has caused pain. He is the true satisfaction that can fill you.”

“Never Too Far Gone”

Becoming a new dad influenced Jordan in many ways. He learned a lot about himself and the Lord. This song, also from The River, was inspired by their lost pregnancy and their baby daughter. “We went through this phase as husbands and wives, angry and irritated at the Lord. We felt like He took something from us. Then, we found redemption and ran back into His arms, realizing He was our satisfaction and would fill the hole in us.”

“We had our baby girl, and the first thought I had as I was holding her was that I had never felt that much love. Nothing she could ever say or do would make me not love her. I'm going to love her for the rest of my days. At that moment, I was overwhelmed by the thought that that's how the Lord, the Creator of the universe, feels about every one of us.”

“Best of Me”

“Best of Me” was the last song written for The River. This song was also inspired by Jordan and Jamie’s failed pregnancy and redemption of a new child. “In this season of coming out of being broken from our miscarriage into this season of becoming a new dad, I was questioning my ability to be a father and to oversee this little person. I remember thinking I didn't know how to handle the emotions tossed around. [Similar to “Never Too Gone”], I was mad at the Lord for a season because of our miscarriage, and I came back to Him knowing that He was the answer all along.”
