Britt Nicole is back with her highly anticipated, third full-length release Gold. Britt is one of my favorite female artists. She has an incredible heart for her ministry, is a wonderful role model for girls of all ages and she has an excellent singing voice.

If you like Francesca Battistelli and mainstream pop music, then you'll love Britt Nicole. She has delivered the ideal album to minister to anyone struggling with identity issues. I’ve been married for almost 18 years and have three young daughters, and this entire album really ministers to me and my entire family.

Her current single “All This Time” is her newest hit song from Gold. The song has a sincere autobiographical style where Britt shares her testimony of when she was first met God and celebrates her salvation in Christ. It’s the type of song that I've come to really love from Britt's albums in the style of "Set The World On Fire." It is a great song and Britt seems poised to pick up where she left off with The Lost Get Found--with a great mix of different styles, heating up and cooling down with every song. It’s a great showcase of Britt's excellent singing voice. I had the great opportunity to interview Britt about “All This Time” and these are her answers to my questions.

Please tell me personal story behind writing the song "All This Time."

My goal with my songwriting to is write honest songs from my heart and hope they speak to people. I hope that I’m always growing musically. I’m still making pop music, which I love. I’m trying to convey my heart through my music.

I was seven years old when I gave my heart to God. The song talks about that in the first verse, how I was in my bedroom and I had no one to turn to, “and that’s when I met You.” My parents at that time were going through a divorce. I remember being in the middle of things, and being confused and lost. Normally as a seven-year-old little girl, you run to your mom or dad for help. I didn’t have anyone to turn to. I remember running to my room, and opening my pink “Precious Moments” Bible. It was really big. I opened my Bible and when I did, I felt the presence of God fill my room.

My grandfather is a pastor and I grew up in his church. He would always talk with me about Jesus and tell me who He was. It was on that day that Jesus became real to me. I was young to have met God, but I knew I wasn’t alone. I knew in that moment that Jesus was real and I felt His presence and I knew that I was safe and that God would take care of me. Really that’s been the theme of my life.

When I moved from my home in North Carolina to Nashville when I was 19 years old, I didn’t know anyone--actually I only knew one person. My relationship with God was all I had. I have a great family, and my brother and I are really close. I have great friends. A lot of times in my life, I feel like I have walked alone. I know I’m really never alone, because God’s with me. No matter what I face, He’s there. When I think of Jesus, the one word I think of is faithful. He’s a faithful God. His Word says He’ll never leave or forsake us. It’s true.

There’s not one person who has walked with you for your entire life. God has been with us every single moment of our lives. He’s seen every detail. He’s seen everything we’ve faced, good or bad. He’s a faithful God. That’s what “All This Time” is about. God’s faithfulness. From that moment of needing God to rescue me when I was a little girl to these last couple of years where I’ve encountered things I didn’t expect. I’ve had moments of brokenness and fear where God has stepped in and restored me.

Do you have a life verse or any Bible verses you used in writing the song?

My life verse is 1 Chronicles 28:20: “And David said to his son Solomon, ‘Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.’”

What's the takeaway message for listeners regarding the song?

I’ve learned in the last year that God is a God of restoration and He restores us in those broken moments. He turns them into something amazing. I’m so thankful to Jesus for that. In the bridge of the song, I hope that every listener thinks of their own salvation story when they hear it. I’m writing about my story, but I want people to think of the moment when they met Jesus. I hope that everyone who hears the song has that experience. I’ve heard from a lot of young women who can specifically relate to my story of meeting Jesus when they were seven years old.

Everyone has their own story. I hope everyone thinks about when they met Jesus. I want them to be encouraged and challenged to tell their story. Maybe they’ve never told a friend or co-worker their salvation story. What’s cool about our individual stories is that they speak to someone’s heart. Rather than giving a bunch of facts about why someone should come to know God, you can walk up and ask someone they’ve ever heard your story.

My parents got divorced when I was young, but this really awesome thing happened—I met God for myself. It wasn’t something someone told me to do. When we tell our stories, people listen and let their guard down and listen. They can’t argue with us, because that’s our story. I hope this song challenges people to tell others what God has done in their lives.

Asbury’s Bible commentary: “David encourages Solomon to serve God completely. The external equipment of worship, which Solomon will construct in splendor, is not sufficient for true religion. Worship must be heartfelt and thoughtful because God knows the motives of the worshiper. God is near to people who seek Him, but He rejects those who spurn Him. Solomon must respond with holy courage if he is to complete his divinely appointed task. Divinely inspired blueprints were familiar to ancient Near Eastern monarchs directed by their god or goddess to construct a house. As the climax of this public service, David gives these plans to Solomon. These instructions delineate the physical layout of the temple, the organization of the temple staff and the design of utensils. The written plans ensure complete correspondence between God's will and Solomon's performance. Again David enjoins Solomon to work courageously. Human preparations are finished. God will not fail to give strength to complete His temple.”

This album is loaded with positive grace-filled messages of hope. The upbeat and heavily produced musical arrangements on this album perfectly accentuate Britt's powerful and passionate songs. Britt has the gift of encouragement and every single song on her amazing new album Gold lifts me up. “All This Time” is a wonderful song of encouragement to live as a light and know that in Christ we can do anything. What I love is how this is yet another in a series of Kingdom-focused songs based on the Truth of the Gospels as we lead up to Easter and this song really challenges believers to share about “The God who rescued me” and to tell unbelievers “This is my story.” Amen!
