From the rain-ridden valleys of Portland, Oregon, comes a fresh new sound in the Northwest. Born September 1st, 2004, Issakar exhibits a ministry of innovative music with a powerful message. With relevance and unremitting fervor, the band aspires to make known the reality of hope
In 2005, Issakar released "The Times", a debut album featuring 13 original songs with meaningful lyrics and genre-spanning style. This release introduced the band to the world of independent music, challenging them to rise above the status quo, and become a voice amidst their generation. The members of Issakar continue to devote themselves to chasing after the heart of God, imperfect as they may be.
A rigorous tour schedule has propelled the band across the country, performing in numerous events, concerts, and festivals. Whether in the upstairs room of a friend's house or in front of thousands of people, Issakar remains solely determined to glorify and make known the name of their Savior. Independently managed, Issakar continues to take their ministry to the world around them. The band consists of Josiah Warneking (lead vocals, keys), Josh Miller (acoustic guitar, vocals), Carlos Hoyer (bass guitar), and Robbie Tice (drums). Though each member contributes greatly to the ministry of Issakar, any one of them would tell you that when all is said and done, the only thing that can be said is: Only God.

The name Issakar (יִשָּׂשׁכָר) was derived from the tribe of Israel, spelled "Issachar".
1 Chronicles 12:32 NLT says that the men of Issachar "understood the temper of the times and knew the best course for Israel (their generation) to take." The band believes that God has called them to be a relevant voice for their generation, pointing them to a real God.
