Caption Radio originated in Leamington Ontario at the end of 2006. Will Friesen and Ben Quiring got together to discuss the possibilities of starting a new band. Both Will and Ben had played together in a band for some years called "Rebel 47." That band was put on hold after guitar player Pete (Little Pants)/(of "Love the Empire") Klassen was in a near-fatal car accident which prevented him from playing guitar for quite some time. Drummer Peter (Big Pants) Klassen and his wife went to Bible college in Manitoba to further their studies in youth ministry (yes, we had 2 Peter Klassen's in our band). Will and Ben still continued to play music together on other projects and remained focused on their love for music. Ike Quiring and John Froese met at Bible college and played in a band named Free Servant. After graduating, they moved back to Leamington and soon were greeted by Will and Ben at their church. They decided to start playing together, just to fulfill their passion to play music, and to possibly lead singing for church and stuff like that. When starting out they were asked to play at several Christmas banquets. Playing together as a band more and more helped them to see the roles they were to play in what soon became Caption Radio. In 2007 they started writing their own material and began to record their first EP album as Caption Radio.
