Matt Blair is songwriter, vocalist and worship leader from Wilmington, North Carolina who has had a passion for music as long as he (or anyone else!) can remember. After graduating from college, Matt moved back to Wilmington and began leading worship for a college ministry called Unfiltered. During this time, he recorded his first album entitled Here I Am, a collection of original worship songs. In 2003, Matt joined the staff of Port City Community Church as an associate pastor; he continued to lead worship both on Sunday mornings and for the church's young adult ministry, Overflow, in addition to recording his second solo album, Transparent. Matt enjoyed his time on staff at the church, but began to hear God's still, small voice encouraging him to take a leap of faith and pursue his passion for music.
In January 2006, Matt and his family decided to jump into a music career with both feet - he began by performing at local churches and coffee shops, as well as youth camps. With his childhood friend Jason Roy of Building 429 acting as mentor and producer, Matt recorded and released his third album, an EP entitled Letting Go, which featured six original songs. One of these songs, Grace Greater, was co-written with Jason Roy and recorded by Building 429 for the newest WOW Hymns album as well as Building 429's upcoming album, Iris to Iris.
Matt and his family, wife Erin and daughters Kaylee and Abi (on the way!), moved to Nashville, Tennessee in January 2007. He performs both regionally and nationally, as he continues to pursue God's calling for a life of faith.
