Since she was a little girl, Jourdan Burks has possessed a deep love for music and has been intrigued by the power of aptly written lyrics, moving sounds, and inspiring performers. From dreaming about one day becoming Debbie Gibson, to singing solos in her church children’s choir and wearing out her Sandy Patty and the Friendship Company tape, a variety of music and performers captured Jourdan’s ear and imagination from an early age. With her taste in music continuing to grow and deepen as she grew up in the panhandle of Florida, her vocal talent did as well and it was obvious to everyone who heard her -- Jourdan Burks was undoubtedly created to sing. It was not until her later teen years however, that Jourdan’s strong faith in God collided with her musical aspirations as she observed a female worship leader at a collegiate conference lead thousands in an authentic pursuit of the holy and transforming God. Jourdan knew at that point that she too was called not just to sing, but to use her voice to lead others to this God that she knew personally as her freedom. While earning her music degree at Florida State University, Jourdan began receiving opportunities to lead worship at college events and summer camps where this calling was continually affirmed. After college, Jourdan moved to the Dallas area and spent several years singing and leading itinerantly with the Jeff Johnson Band. With each experience, God grew Jourdan’s confidence as a worship leader and has created the opportunity for her to step out on her own over the past year. Currently, Jourdan leads worship for women’s and youth events, church services, and a variety of conferences and community events. Her passion to see lives transformed and combined with her powerful yet tender voice and a wisdom and humility rooted in His Word, makes Jourdan Burks not only a worship leader, but also a woman that God will use for His glory immeasurably more than she could ever ask or imagine.
Vital Fact: She laughs from her gut. Loud.
