"Hi friends. Thanks for checking out Time of Favor. My name is Sean. I sing and play guitar in a rock-and-roll band with some of my best friends in the world: Kyle Kicker (drums/ vocals),and Dale Burnett (Lead guitar/ vocals). We are all born and bread in southern MO. The weather is weird there...
...Well, the band started almost eight years ago with a phone call to my best friend Mike Gordon. I was a freshman in high school that spent a lot of quality time with my guitar, a pen, and paper. Partially because I had a passion to become a songwriter, but mostly because I wasnt good at anything else, especially the social scene.
Not much has changed since those days. But now we travel the country playing our songs for anyone with a willing ear. Our passion is not fueled by fame and our motivation is far from financial. Instead we are out to change things. Life is short, how will you be remembered? We must understand that if you are human, then. . . well. . . welcome to the club. Friends, we're all in this together.''
Since it's conception in 2001, favor has lead their own evolution of modern melodic rock, straying far from burnout fads. Yielding passionate and thought provoking lyrics with innovative musical concepts that remain approachable for the listener.
''I've often been asked to classify TOF into a genre. But I have trouble getting very specific, and that's how I like it. Probably because we don't follow fads, and we don't 'try' to sound like anything. We don't write music for the scene. We just write music from the bottom of our hearts,'' explains Lea.
In 2005 Favor picked up momentum with it's sophomore release ''Something Profound,'' which hit the stands the day of their high school graduation. The release of a full length original album at such a young age quickly garnered the attention of industry professionals. One of these being the multi-platinum Producer, Malcolm Springer (Matchbox 20, Faith Hill, Collective soul). Springer helped produce and arrange a portion of the tracks on their 2007 release ''Cannonballs and Whispers,'' but more importantly, he was a friend and mentor to the group as they ventured into the unforgiving trenches of the music industry.
Between the talents of Malcolm and the mastering genius of Paul Salvenson (Mercy Me, Rebecca St.James) the release of ''Cannonballs and Whispers'' (2007) catapulted Favor's career into overdrive. Touring full time, both independently and in partnership with the extreme sports exhibition ministry ''Real Encounter.''
In a society screaming to sell your soul to commercialism, sell your passion for financial stability, and to trade your bodies for happiness, Time of Favor is screaming a different message. ''You are you are loved just the way you are. There are much bigger matters at hand.''
''We've played uncountable shows in some of the nastiest places in the universe for no more than five people. We've played shows for five thousand people in giant arenas. We slept on the top floor of the Sheraton and slept in alleyways in down town Chattanooga. We've discussed business with record producers but, we prefer to discuss passionate ideas and our favorite food with teenagers.''
''Unlike some bands, I'm not willing to dance around the issue. We are Christians. Don't be offended. I'm not offended if you're not a Christian. So lets just put that behind us. If we didn't say it, we'd be liars and fakes. So no matter your stance I hope you can respect us for that. Please hear me, faith doesn't make us better than anyone. In fact, a lot of people have been burned by 'Christians' or church. I have too. Christians are human. We make mistakes, but that's where Grace comes in. And contrary to what many modern day 'Christians' have portrayed, It's not about excluding or alienating. That's clearly not what Jesus was about. Rather, for us, it's about Love. Love for every one no matter your stance. It's about a God of second chances that adores you and me and wants to extend his grace and hope. You're more than welcome to ask us about it.''
Time of Favor is not about becoming a victim of your circumstance or a product of your environment. It's about picking fights with giants. Time of favor is not about the easy way out, it's about the right way forward. It's about Jesus love for us. Take nothing for granted, instead seek wisdom around every corner.
''I've found that I most often discover truth when I'm forced from the place between who I was and who I want to be. Sometimes taking a step outside of our self to look at the world through unadulterated eyes can add a perspective that transcends our petty differences. It's a ray of truth that melts away our man-made walls of division. Walls built with bricks of race, religion, pride, and socioeconomic status. Cast in the mortar of our obsession with image, wealth, and tradition. Hardened by greed and preserved by indifference. In this case, Time of Favor is a wrecking ball, I hope.''
''Keep listening, and keep changing the world one day at a time. Jesus loves you'' -SEAN LEA-
