What began as a part-time summer outreach for The Cause's frontman and songwriter Lance Mishleau has now become a full-time music ministry that spans the globe. Before connecting with The 5000 Music Group to record the group's first full-length album, Lance had already journeyed across the globe, recently returning from a trek to Australia.
The candid and heartfelt lyrics that Lance skillfully paints across a variety of musical canvasses easily resonates with the listener's deepest emotions. Whether live or recorded, the eclectic sound one hears from The Cause will surely echo the bands motto: "Leading Youth to Lead the Church."
Like so much of The Cause's ministry, the band's name comes from the Bible, in this case a verse from 1 Timothy 2:5-7 (CWV) which reads, "As we all know, there is only one God and only one Mediator between us and God, the man Christ Jesus. He gave His life on behalf of all of us, which is proof that God wants all of us to be saved. He gave us the testimony of His love in His own appointed time. For this cause I was called to be an apostle and sent to the Gentiles..."
Over the last six years The Cause has played just about every type of venue and event out there, from summer camps to large concert halls like Andrews University's Howard Performing Arts Center. Additionally, the band has lead praise and worship at numerous campmeetings around the country.
"When I first learned about The Cause, they were already generating press from national magazines. The more I got to know Lance and the guys the more I liked their music and their message. They know how to relate to the youth and that is just as important as anything else," says Chris McConnell, President of The 5000 Music Group. "The bands philosophy and attitude mesh perfectly with our company, so I am excited to help them grow their ministry to it's full potential."
Like many a band, The Cause has undergone a few personnel changes over the last few years. The current lineup solidified at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, where Lance connected with bass player Brennan Hallock, guitarist Michael Adams and drummer Hiroshi Oda. The college liked the band's ministry so much that it sponsored the group and a partnership called The Cause at Union College was born.
