"flicker" moves beyond the self-titled EP release from the band formerly known as Sundown in the City, of just a year ago, in production, performance, writing, and content as well, "I like the honesty (Christians are too afraid to be honest sometimes) coupled with the ultimately uplifting God-ward focus" John Green explains. The band has gone through a make-over since the last release solidifying Caleb Massey as the bassist and Ryan Stephens as the lead guitarist. Matt Thomas takes on a larger role as the album features more piano, organ, and pads while Sean Hill remains behind the drum kit. "ambright" is moving beyond the stereotypes of contemporary Christian artists in approach, focus, and sound, making "flicker" a must-have for listeners seeking something beyond the cautious "Christian sound".
