James Grear & Company is a Minneapolis-based nine member vocal ensemble that has given their lives to the proclamation of Jesus Christ through Gospel music. The group’s accomplishments include four Stellar Award nominations, an appearance on the movie soundtrack for “The Prince of Egypt,” and an appearance on NBC’s Today Show as backup for pop diva Mariah Carey.
The Company’s latest album release, Don’t Waste Another Day, hits stores Aug. 11, 2009 and includes something for everyone, from traditional gospel to young and contemporary. With moving lyrics and astounding vocals, the album is sure to inspire the spirit.
The first single, written and produced by Billy Steele, is “Hold On (Change is Comn’).” A remake of the Sounds of Blackness hit, “Hold On” is an upbeat song meant to remind you that “everything will be alright,” leaving you hopeful and snapping your fingers. Think real “happy music.”
The Company’s debut project in 1998 entitled Don't Give Up took the industry by storm with over 30 weeks on both the Billboard R&B/ Gospel Charts with three hit singles, guest appearances by multi-platinum artist T-Low of NEXT and Ann Nesby, formerly of the Sounds of Blackness. Since then the Company has completed four other albums with 40+ weeks of billboard, two Excellence nominations, and a Soul Train Award nomination. Among their credits is an appearance on the movie soundtrack for "The Fighting Temptations," featuring Beyoncé and Angie Stone and the movie “The Emperor’s New Groove” with Sting. Grear and Company has shared the stage with almost every known artist in the Gospel industry from Kirk Franklin and Donnie McClurkin to Kim Burrell and Shirley Caesar.
