The first thing you notice at one of Amy’s concerts is a classical harp center stage. Because of this unique instrument Amy is many times conveniently referred to as a harpist. But, she is so much more. Although, her first recording was an international solo harp recording with Sparrow (now EMI-Christian) and Capitol, the large harp is only a small part of what makes Amy passionate about her music. Using this music to honor and glorify God is her desire.
As a child raised in Florida Amy performed with the guitar and piano on stage as early as 5 yeas old. At eleven she was introduced to the harp and began to take lessons from the harp instructor at Florida State University. The attention she received from playing an unusual instrument helped open doors for early performances. Graduating with a music degree from Wheaton College, Amy headed to Nashville to pursue a music career. After signing her first record contract with Sparrow she was immediately signed as a staff writer at Birdwing music where she honed her skill as a writer. She has recorded 12 Albums (6 vocal CDs) labeled by 6 different record companies.
Amy is finishing up her 13th Album, a sixteen song vocal CD called “The God Of All Comfort” which will be released by Audio Abbey Records Nashville and distributed by DHM a division of RBC in August 2009. She is also under contract with Zondervan in Grand Rapids, MI for a 10 song version of the same CD which will be available with best selling author Dee Brestin’s new women's study guide based on her book with the same title as Amy’s CD.
Amy has been influenced by many other artists and bands. James Taylor, Enya, Michael Card, Counting Crows, and several Irish artists have helped her develop her musical style. Co-writing and arranging with her husband has added a rock element to the music. The result is a celtic influenced pop sound that appeals to a variety of listeners of many genres.
Amy will be performing music from her upcoming CD as well as music from her past. Come be a part of an evening or morning (please edit) that will comfort you, encourage you, and will challenge you to fall in love with a God who cares deeply for you.
