After meeting in High School, David Martinez and Josh Maisner quickly became best friends and shared a passion for worshiping God through music. They both agree that it is in these moments of worship that they feel closest to God. After involvement in other musical endeavors, and constant encouragement from family and friends, they decided to combine their talents and answer the call they felt on their lives; to lead others in worship. They began writing music together and have just released their debut self-titled EP, The North Gate; a compilation of original songs that implements a distinct modern rock sound, melodic harmonies, and sincere lyrics that engage the listener.

When the time came to name their worship project, they took ideas from their quiet times and came upon Ezekiel 46: 9. “When the people of the land come before the Lord at the appointed feasts, whoever enters (the inner court) by the north gate to worship is to go out the south gate; and whoever enters by the south gate is to go out the opposite gate.” Josh and David feel that this verse expresses their desire to be used as merely a tool to help people enter into worship.
