Roger Cullins: worship leader, songwriter and lover of God. His music and message is designed to point people to Jesus for the first time and draw them closer to Him for a lifetime. Roger believes that the gospel of Jesus inspires hearts and lives to sacrificial and joyful praise. In a way that is neither intimidating nor watered-down, Roger points people to God through the combination of His passions: worship, encouraging others, and music!
His newest original album, Songs of the Savior, was inspired by life experiences in Roger’s personal walk with the Lord and his journey through the Word of God.
“I don’t aspire to be a celebrity,” said Roger. “But because of my love for God, I’m not scared to stand out and lead others to Him. I want every part of my life to honor and glorify the Lord; that’s why God gave me this gift of life.”
Roger is a Director of Worship at Houston’s First Baptist Church, where he has served on staff since August of 2004 . Every week, he uses his gifts to do what he was made to do: praise the one true God, encourage the body of Christ and make music.
Whether on stage in front of thousands or in a room with just a few people, Roger’s leadership style is warm, personable and inspired by the Holy Spirit. Once you meet him, you feel like you may have known him forever. His love for the Lord is refreshing and contagious and his music pours from his heart.
Growing up in a large, musical family, Roger’s love for music started at an early age. His worship leadership took root in high school when he started leading for his peers in youth group and chapel services at Bay Area Christian School. He became very involved in the worship leadership in college while at Howard Payne University. Roger served as a youth minister for almost two years before God called him to travel weekends and summers leading worship with his brothers in the band Until Then. His opportunities to lead worship came from numerous LifeWay Student conferences including: Centrifuge at Union University, Glorietta, Ridgecrest, Panama City Beach, and SBC Camp at the Annual Convention. Other opportunities have included Song of Solomon Conferences, Houston Metro Bible Studies, nationwide D’Nows and various church retreats.
Roger graduated from Howard Payne University in 2003 with a BA in Communications, and has since studied at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. If he’s not making music, Roger enjoys golf, fishing, spending time with friends and family, and most any sport.
