Talent, humility, and a genuine spirit are all words that describe Allison Short. There is no doubt Allison is blessed with God’s favor. Her passion for music is only outshined by her passion for God,” says Rev. Chip Harbin, Evangelist and Director of The Victor Ministry in North Carolina. Singing since age 3, Allison, now 24, has always loved music. In high school, she won a contest which allowed her to sing onstage with Christian singing group Plus One and in 2002 she traveled as a soloist with the Continental Singers on their “Live It Up” tour. She currently performs at Women’s Conferences, local coffee houses and in numerous churches across the country. Allison’s vocal influences include the powerful voices of Cece Winans, Janna Long (Avalon), Kelly Clarkson and Christy Nockels (Watermark). She has a love for a variety of genres of music ranging from country to blues to rock to gospel, not unlike her debut album, “Only for a Season.” “Only for a Season,” is the first album recorded under the Heartlight Records label which is the contemporary counterpart of Son Sound Music Group in Bessemer City, NC. Partnering with Allison on this album were Mark Fain on bass (Ricky Skaggs), David Johnson (SGMA Musician of the Year), drummer Rick Murray (Bebo Norman), and Grammy Nominated Richard Putnam ..boards. Filled with songs that reflect her love for God and a variety of musical styles, there is something for everyone on this album. Two of the stand out tracks on this album include, “He Is” which has a traditional gospel sound and “All Along”—an inspirational tune with powerhouse vocals. Allison’s music touches people in all walks of life and as a result many have given their lives to Christ. Her hope is that through the music she presents, unbelievers will come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and believers will be encouraged to finish the race. “I want my joy to be so contagious that the world can’t help but notice that there’s something different about me, and that that difference is Jesus. I pray continually that I’ll keep an attitude of humility so that my focus stays on glorifying Him and not on glorifying myself.”
