Aunt Bettys was formed in the mid-90's as a side project by Michael Knott. The band played primarily alternative punk pop and new wave revival with classic rock & roll flair.
It was one of Knott's more controversial and infamous projects. The self-titled debut album was criticized for for some of the album artwork, and for profanity on one of the songs, for which Michael later apologized. The debut album was also poorly received by critics.
The Aunt Bettys fared better on their second release, a compilation of previously unreleased demo songs.
