This BET Music Matters Winner and ESPN Featured Artist, won the 2014 Kingdom Choice Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. He has shared the stage with such artists as Newsboys, Lecrae, Tye Tribbett, CeCe Winans, Mc Jin, Brandon Heath, The Afters, For King & Country, Plumb, Sara Groves, Brian Littrell (Backstreet Boys), Canton Jones, The Katinas, Tremaine Hawkins, The City Harmonic, Shawn McDonald, Leeland and many more.
On January 27th, 2009, Transparent released his eagerly awaited debut album “L.I.F.E.”(Living In Favor Everyday), which has been globally recognized. In September 2009, “L.I.F.E” was released in Australia followed by a two-week promotional tour (his third tour in Australia). He also headlined The enLIGHTen Tour in the Grand Cayman Islands in 2011. Transparent performed live at Oracle Arena in Oakland in front of 11,000 spectators, plus the millions who viewed this on the SHOWTIME network. On this special night, Transparent brought to the ring the Super Middleweight Boxing Champion Andre “SOG” Ward, with his anthem “The GREATEST”. Transparent’s latest full length project was his nationally acclaimed 2011 street album, titled D.O.P.E.(Dominating On Purpose Everyday). Three songs from this album and his single “One Way(Turn Up)” have been featured on ESPN for various sport highlight clips.
Originally from Richmond, California, Transparent is a Bishop O’Dowd High School and Fresno State University Alumni with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development. After graduating, Transparent held positions with Alternative Family Services as a case manager/Independent Living Skills Specialist for foster care and adoption children. He is currently the program director for the non-profit organization Beyond the Locker, teaching youth life skills through sports. His dual passions for youth and spreading the Word of God are what fuel’s his determination to live his life in an upright and “Transparent” way.
Today, Transparent has performed at more than 550 different venues across the world (Colleges, Cruises, High Schools, Churches, Talent shows, and Award shows). In 2010, Transparent and Wordsmith started a traveling juvenile hall summer concert series called Music Behind The Walls, which he headlines. More juvenile halls are being added each year. Along with his dedication to empowering youth, he performs in San Quinton Prison for 2,000+ inmates for their annual Outreach Day. Transparent also uses the medium of radio to present the gospel. He is the Executive Producer of the radio show #WordOnTheStreet w/ Wordsmith. He has recently partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes “One Way 2 Play” program, where he travels to different high schools bringing the message of living and playing Drug Free.
