One of Gospel Music’s rising stars. She is an accomplished
producer, recording engineer, musician, songwriter
and recording artist. With over 20 years of musical
experience, she is no new kid on the block.
She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana .Throughout her
school years her family relocated to the likes of
Southfield, MI and Albany, NY. After High school,
Cherie went on to study Music at Howard University in
Washington DC. She then moved onto places like
Jersey City, NJ and Poughkeepsie, NY and back to
Albany, NY again. Cherie feels that the transient life
she had during her youth has given her opportunity to
meet and work with many great and talented people. It
also helped to mold her musical influences.
Cherie began her music career writing and recording
R&B in 1990. She recorded her first single 'It’s time to
Change' which went on to become a local hit in Albany,
NY. But, later there were many career
disappointments, personal trials and tribulations that
discouraged her from pushing toward her dreams.
In 1997, she moved to St. Louis, MO. A year later, her
eyes were opened to the Lord’s call on her life.
Cherie’s musical and songwriting style includes the
essence of Contemporary, R&B and Hip Hop genres.
She feels that her talents are from God and for His
glory. Cherie has performed with legendary jazz
vocalist Denise Thimes and has co-produced/written
for Larry Rodgers, former dancer and hype man for MC
Hammer and many, many others.
Available, on the C.D.W. Label, is Cherie's
first Contemporary Gospel CD entitled, 'Wonderful
Counselor' . She describes this album as “Sweet, yet
Funky. There are songs on this project that get to the
heart of One’s joy and pain." Her hopes are that those
who will listen, will come know Jesus as the answer.
Min. Whitt returns in 2010 with the follow-up CD: Beautiful T2J Tribulation To Jubilation.
