Cross Movement Records (CMR) announces the upcoming release from newly signed Hip Hop artist Young Joshua. The Philly native has developed both a solid relationship with CMR and a reputation for his versatile east-coast flow. As indicated by his name, Young Joshua resonates a refreshing youthfulness, but simultaneously demonstrates the maturity of an old soul. On his first nationally distributed project Thinking Out Loud, the authentic rapper refreshingly and skillfully delivers nothing less than an album full of life music through an eclectic mix of grungy rhythms and soulful melodies.
Young Joshua has been rapping since the age of 11, but it was when he turned 17 that his newfound relationship with Jesus redefined and reshaped his craft. His mission now is to take the gospel via rap music both to believers and to people who don’t know God at all. After an independent release and close to 50 features on other artist’s projects, Young Joshua is optimistic about the prospects that lie ahead with CMR.
“I feel real good and blessed to be joining Cross Movement Records, and linking up with the vision God has given them,” stated Young Joshua. “I believe it’s a great opportunity to be on another platform to continue to present the gospel. I’m encouraged by the amount of support people have given me regarding this. I pray that I walk in humility and use the gift God gave me to keep pushing His truth.”
John Wells, President of Cross Movement Records, added “In a world that is hurting for authentic, remarkable, street level art, infused with the thoughts and intentions of God—enter Young Joshua! We are humbled and honored to co-labor, lead and learn from such a dynamic, fresh mind.”
On Thinking Out Loud, Young Joshua takes the listener on a journey of his own thought process in a time when many people remain silent regarding the tough topics of life. With the model of the apostles in Acts 4-5, Young Joshua boldly speaks up for the truth regardless of any potential lash backs or intimidation that he may face from the world. Delving into a wide array of matters that confront the everyday person, Young Joshua brings both conviction and motivation to the issues that most only reflect upon. Family relationships, friendships, negative stigmas of the church, not wanting to expose one’s own sin, life struggles, and suicide are just some of the real life situations which the album addresses. Inspiring the younger generations to bring thoughts to life, Young Joshua challenges all to go beyond simply thinking to Thinking Out Loud.
