Milton Taylor was born in Chicago, IL in a single parent household. ‘Brother 3,’ who is known to family and friends simply as “3 ft.” was exposed to gangs, drugs and poverty as young as 12 years old. This early exposure influenced him to pursue a similar lifestyle; living in the “fast lane” he found himself incarcerated for a U.U.W. (unlawful use of a weapon) in 2004. However, he never lost his love of music and his dream of being in the music industry. After his release from jail, he moved to Atlanta, GA to pursue his passion for music in a more professional manner. His exposure and industry contacts allowed him several opportunities to propel his talent as a writer and rapper, though, he was always writing his own music and poems since his early childhood. He says that writing music was always an outlet – a way of relating his thoughts on personal situations. While in Atlanta, Brother 3 worked with many professionals including “Dip Set,” John Legend, Fantasia and many others. This gave him the opportunity to try to land a music deal with Columbia Records that eventually fell through. Through all of his successes and failures, Brother 3’s talent was not enough to make him feel fulfilled.
Brother 3 accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior December 16, 2007 after hearing the gospel preached by a Minister by the name of Richard Wright in Dolton, IL. In his newfound faith, Brother 3 realized that God wanted to use his gift to advance the cause of Christ. However, he soon realized that God wanted him to be peculiar; God did not want him to do business like the secular world does business. In his purpose to relay the heart of God as accurately as possible, he began writing his hit song, “Signed to Christ.” Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the lyrics clearly detail the roles of the artist and the label in comparison to the body of Christ. Soon after the completion of the song, Brother 3 was inspired to make that song the basis, and name, of his newest venture – a Christian record label named ‘Signed to Christ Records.’ Under this label, artists are not confined to binding contracts and controlled responsibilities, but rather, each individual artist must only maintain the statutes of the bible; living a lifestyle that displays Christ, giving to God through tithes, and helping to further spread the gospel. This basis is what he believes will help bridge the gap between foundational scriptures and the modern culture.
Currently, Brother 3 continues to pursue God’s purpose for his life with his wife and children, while continuing to teach others about God’s plan for their life while helping them to find and pursue their own purpose.
