A young lady who knows who she is in Christ and exactly what she wants to do with her God-given talent – that's new RadioActive Entertainment recording artist Camaryn Rogers. Now in her twenties, she has the wisdom of someone many years older, and at the same time is impassioned to deliver the love of Jesus through music to those she comes in contact with. Camaryn shares, “I desire to create music that has the same sound you hear on Top 40 radio, but with a more positive, and more important message about the love of God.”
Camaryn was a typical kid during her elementary school days. She enjoyed singing and dancing, in front of family and friends, and looked for ways to perform in front of people. One summer she attended a church summer camp in the seventh grade. There she made the ultimate life changing decision to follow her Savior. “In that moment, I thought, this is what I’ve been waiting for. I had always felt that I was created for more,” Camaryn states.
Her new-found faith helped move her into leadership roles at school and at church. That same faith allowed her family to see a loving relationship with Jesus lived out firsthand. That lifestyle transformation helped the rest of her family realize they needed Christ in their hearts as well. Camaryn remembers, “I had been really concerned with popularity, what people thought, and how I looked. But then I found myself more concerned with living a life to glorify God. Instead of trying to live up to the expectations I felt from kids at school, I started trying to live up to my potential that God reveals to me daily.”
As high school pressed on, she became involved with daily video broadcasts in front of the entire school body. That, coupled with a love for journalism, prompted Camaryn to move forward with an intended future in broadcasting post high school. But after visiting several journalism programs around the country, she simply wasn't at peace about any of the colleges she was considering. Midway through her senior year of high school, Camaryn took a role in a Christmas show at the Gaylord Texan Resort that moved her into the direction she truly felt God had in mind for her. “My parents sat me down after that experience and pointed out that I had been singing several times a night for three whole months and was extremely happy while doing it.” Camaryn realized that if she went to college strictly for broadcasting, singing in front of an audience would need to be put on hold for several years (although performing made her happier than anything else).
As she set out to find the right college music program, Camaryn was inexplicably drawn to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee after her first visit. Despite being offered a full broadcasting scholarship at another major college, Camaryn felt that attending Belmont was the first step of obedience in the call she felt on her life to minister to people through music. “God began opening doors that I never dreamed of, including recording on the Grand Ole Opry stage, and now writing with several Nashville-based songwriters.”
Now as a new Belmont University graduate and yearning to make an impact, Camaryn has linked up with veteran songwriter and multi-platinum producer Scotty Davis (Kutless, Rush of Fools, Jessie Daniels) as a recording artist for RadioActive Entertainment. Together they have completed her first radio single, “Heir of a Kingdom” available now on Amazon and iTunes.
