Koiné is intense lyrical Christianity mixed with modern folk and rock music. Founded in Milwaukee, WI, this six piece incorporates drums, piano, bass, and guitar with rich vocal harmonies to bring a bold Christian message to the modern ear. Often compared to Jars of Clay, The Decemberists, or Mumford and Sons, the group has an eclectic style and instrumentation throughout their extensive library of 6 full length albums, with the 7th scheduled for release in August.

Performing on average between 150 200 every year, their grassroots following is growing quickly. Their fans and supporters appreciate their creative musical arrangements woven with the intense, biblical lyrics of their original songs and the classic hymns they play. Their music appeals to both young and old, and everyone in between.

The group formed in September of 2003 as a worship band for their home church. As word about the band spread, requests started pouring in from churches, colleges, and schools all over North America. In June of 2008, the members decided it was time to quit their day jobs and focus exclusively on music, and they have been doing it ever since.

Koiné was recently awarded 2013 Christian/Gospel Artist of the Year by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI).
