Caleb and Sol Rexius areidentical twins and American singer/songwriters from Eugene, Oregon. Their debut album titled “Afloat” was released in January 2009. Both graduated from the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business before pursuing a music career together. Both played American football and were track and field athletes at the University of Oregon prior to focusing on music. Performing in front of large crowds was not a new thing for these twins, but singing certainly was. "The first 20 years of my life was essentially dedicated to athletics" Caleb says, so I guess performing is nothing new. By high school they excelled on the football field where both played running back, earning all-state selections and MVP honors. In track and field, Caleb was all-state in 4 events while Sol was state champion both hurdle events.
Coaches at the University of Oregon noticed Caleb and Sol and invited them on the football and track teams where they played strong safety and running back, respectively. Unfortunately, juggling sports while maintaining the high grades necessary to keep their academic scholarships felt more like a job than fun, so they dropped back to concentrate on the things that mattered most to them, ministry and music. Caleb sang with University of Oregons On the Rocks while Sol sang with the Gospel Choir, both honing in on their vocal talent. "At 20 years of age I realized that I loved music and I loved singing, I was always just too afraid to share my gift" Sol explains, "we were both 20 years old before we ever had the guts to sing in front of anyone! "
On a road trip down through California after college graduation, they decided to throw their guitars in the back and maybe make a few bucks to cover gas by singing on street corners. After making $84 in one hour, they realized that they might be on to something. They finished the week by writing a few songs that are included on their debut album.
However, the pursuit of a music career was not in the cards for either brother. After graduation Caleb married beautiful Betsie (the two met while still in strollers) and, after spending a year on staff at Young Lifes Washington Family Ranch (formerly Wildhorse Canyon), returned to work in the family business where hed have time to work on his marketing career. Sol returned to school to receive his Masters Degree at Western Evangelical Seminary. After a hiatus from the music scene, and an ever-growing desire to spread the gospel through their music, Caleb and Sol decided to embark on a journey. In July of 2008, they teamed up once again to record and launch their debut album titled Afloat. Caleb penned the words and music for the title song and they split lyric-writing responsibilities for the rest, each writing separately then coming together to edit one anothers work. All but three songs on the album are original to them. Success comes from the hand of the Lord, and things have exploded since the release of their debut album in January of 2009. Suddenly, groups from all over clamor for personal appearances; they have sung to audiences of over 8,000. Their fan base on the internet has grown exponentially; churches, camps, youth groups, and schools continue to call. After just 9 months, and 20,000 CDs, Caleb and Sol are staying Afloat and excited about whats to come.
