The Corey Brooks Band is a Contemporary Christian ministry marked by a refreshing clarity in their music with a sense of honesty and purpose in their songwriting. The group is led by C and L Entertainments multi-award winning singer/songwriter and youth pastor, Corey Brooks. Brooks formed the band in late 2009 after a seven year stint as a soloist. And just like Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up, “ and that’s exactly what Brooks did, he never gave up. With transitions in the band along the way, the music steadily became more of what he had envisioned by 2011. With a solid and dedicated drummer and background vocalist- Daniel Pennington, a rhythm guitar player with a zeal for the creative- T.K. King, and a piano player with a classical touch- Alec Tincher, the Corey Brooks Band became more than just a few guys with instruments and mic; it became a family.
Brooks is no stranger to the world of Christian music. He was introduced to the scene in 2002 as a soloist/songwriter. He has performed and opened for many well-known artists. By 2006, God had moved him into the lime light with a GMA ‘Dove’ award nomination and blessed him with a win at the ICM Awards for New Artist of the Year. In 2008, he garnished his first number 1 song overseas with ‘Real Life’. In 2009, he was nominated for ICM Music Evangelist, made the qualification list for the GRAMMYS, and his song ‘Love Me Anyways’ climbed it’s way to number 1 overseas and was his first number 1 release in the US.
As a soloist Corey opened for T-Bone, Newsboys and Aaron and Amanda Crabb. He shared the stage with artists such as Michael English, Randy Owen, Brian Littrell, Richie McDonald, Ricky Skaggs, Emerson Drive, Craig Morgan, Point of Grace, and many more.
In 2010 the band’s new album ‘Damascus Road’ made the qualification list for the Grammy’s and the GMA ‘Dove’ awards, while the band themselves were nominated for ICM Group of the Year. The band opened for KJ-52 at two events and is now slated to open for Building 429 and Flame in 2011, along with headlining two events. They were asked to present on the ICM Awards and the Visionary Award shows that aired on national television. They partnered with Soles4souls charity out of Nashville, TN. To show their support of Soles4Souls, the guys walked the carpet barefoot at the ICM Awards, and also presented an award shoeless. They did this to raise awareness for the over 300 million children in the world that aren’t fortunate enough to afford shoes, something that most people take for granted .
Corey, Daniel, Alec, and T.K. each have a testimony that bears out a personal relationship with Jesus. Their desire is to make an eternal difference in peoples’ lives by using their own. From their servant attitude, energetic playing, and anointed lyrics, these highly committed and unbelievably talented musicians fuse together to form a Christian band in every aspect. They do not apologize for keeping Jesus in the forefront.
