Eddie is certainly no stranger to music and as a seasoned, professional musician, he first gained popularity as the Christian rapper VOICE in the late ‘90s, releasing his solo efforts Bow Ya Head and Broadcast while collaborating with other artists in the studio with guest features on their songs. These years were the genesis and foundation of the future ahead that God would unfold, shaping and continuously perfecting the singer/songwriter that God planned him to become, playing venues such as the annual Cornerstone Festival in Illinois, participating in events alongside Mario Murillo, Manuel Carizales, Andrae Crouch, and also performing at the Los Angeles Coliseum during a Luis Palau crusade. He’s graciously shared stages with artists like P.O.D., KJ-52, L.A. Symphony, Israel Houghton, Flame, Grits, John Gibson, T-Bone, K2S, Fros-T, and the group 12th Tribe of which he was a member of during the summer of 1994.
When he wasn’t touring he continued to serve as a worship leader at his then home church in Chatsworth, Calif., and it was there where he learned to worship God and see people moved by the power of Christ as He showed Himself as Truth. Even though Eddie had been writing and recording music for years, it wasn’t until he attended a Sonic Flood concert with his wife that he felt called by God with an intense, burning desire in his spirit to begin a worship band. Stepping out on faith and not knowing many musicians who had the same career passion, Eddie moved forward with this new vision and years later started the rock-worship band Kerygma. In late 2009 Kerygma released their first album Enter In, of which Eddie was responsible for writing the majority of the material and toured through his home state of California playing venues from churches to coffee houses to outdoor concerts, including festivals such as Spirit West Coast Monterey, Spirit West Coast Del Mar and Revolution Festival and sharing stages with artists such as Kutless, Mercy Me, Jay Leach(American Idol), Barlow Girl, Superchick,Tenth Ave North, and many others.
It was while he was singing with Kerygma that Eddie got the attention of friend and producerSteve E. Williams, and after having heartfelt talks about Eddie’s desire to continue to reach the world with his music and testimony, the pair began working together on Eddie’s latest project and single, ‘Shielded.’ Steve has written, produced, and worked with many artists in the past 30 years, including Darlene Zschech (writer of “Shout to The Lord”) of Australia’s Hillsong, John Tesh, Leon Patillo, the Parachute Band, and Steve Amerson (Billy Graham soloist), and many other artists with songs charted on Billboard’s Top 100. He has co-written with successful songwriters such as Michael Jay (credits include songs recorded by Celine Dion, Martika),Stan Sheppard (By All Means, Gerald Albright, DJ Quik), and Annie Roboff (Faith Hill). As a studio musician, he has worked with artists such as Smokey Robinson, The Four Tops,Laura Branigan, Tiffany, & Olivia Newton-John. Teaming up with Steve has been an amazing journey even at its most preliminary stages explains Eddie: “Over the years I have been blessed to work with many producers who have contributed their talents to a lot of amazing music…Never in all my years of recording, have I been blessed to work with somebody so on the money as Steve. He knows where I am coming from…and where God is taking my music. He just gets it…that is a HUGE deal for an artist in working with his producer!”
Over the past year, Eddie has been hard at work writing new songs, developing for what will be the most powerful of his projects to date and setting the stage with his forthcoming record. Eddie and his band have already planned to tour throughout the summer of 2012 to the areas where Shielded gets airplay within the U.S., and the sound for the new project is heavily pop influenced and the new single will catch the ears of fans of artists like Tenth Ave North, Snow Patrol, Cold Play, Matthew West, and Josh Wilson. The album will feature acoustic guitar and piano driven worship, praise, and songs of encouragement to listeners. All the years that have passed lend the experience that fuels Eddie’s writing and vision to reach people conveying relevant messages and the love of a real and true God!
