Be still, and know that I am God. Psalms 46:10
In this knowledge comes the ability to live life and share your story and God's truth freely.
Farewell June is an organic pop band whose desire is "To play great music with thought provoking lyrics for a people that desperately need to know the love of God." The band believes their music lives and thrives in the modern world. Their songs have a free-spirited familiarity and undeniably proclaim God's acceptance for everyday people.
"We want to be a vessel through which the anointing of God can flow. We go into places where people are hurting and offer fresh enthusiasm for life."
Farewell June's singer/songwriter Robert "Jonas" Woods longs for more than what pop culture is selling. During the summer of 1999, he spent time in the town square of Springfield, Missouri playing his music and freely sharing his life story. Jonas fostered great friendships with the people he met and simply listened. It was through these times that God prompted him to start the ministry that is now Farewell June.
Lead guitarist Nick Woods delivers his blues-inspired riffs to Farewell June's debut release, 1939. Nick plays electric and acoustic guitars, as well as the violin and banjo. He attended Evangel University and after playing in various college bands, became a member of Farewell June.
Randall Wildman, Farewell June's bassist, studied jazz in college and then combined the techniques of artists he admired to create his own contemporary style. However, Randall's musical virtuosity doesn't stop with bass. He is currently working on a master's degree in piano from Southwest Missouri State University.
Former Seattle worship leader Jamie Koppang is on keys for Farewell June. Before joining the band, Jamie was a solo artist recording his first project with producer Jonathan David Brown. Brown ultimately introduced him to Farewell June. Jamie penned the cut "Even There" on their current release, 1939.
The pulse behind Farewell June is dynamic drummer Mike Thompson. Performing professionally since age 17, Mike has opened for artists such as Clint Black and the Dixie Chicks. He is endorsed by Pork Pie Percussion.
Becky Woods adds organic harmonies that define Farewell June's vocal blend. As a missionary kid, Becky grew up overseas in Egypt, Lebanon, Cyprus, and Jordan. She graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri where she met her future husband Jonas. Becky was an elementary school teacher, but has now directed her complete focus to Farewell June.
The rich textures and lyrical depth of Farewell June's 1939, produced by CCM legend Jonathan David Brown, chronicles authentic life experiences. 1939 provides the listener with strong and familiar sounds, like those of James Taylor, Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, and Mercy Me.
Putting their faith into action, Farewell June has embarked on a journey to share their introspective and memorable songs, such as "Servant," Farewell June's first radio single, to those searching for a deeper purpose in life.
