Transit is a hip-hop artist who moved to Calgary from Victoria in 2007. He has gained notable buzz from media outlets such as Much Music, Maclean’s Magazine, Q with Jian Ghomeshi and many more. His latest album “22” which was released November of 2011, was the first album from a Calgary rapper to reach Top 10 of the iTunes hip-hop charts.
In 2010, Transit and long time collaborator Dave...
Wallace created a video titled "The 8 Hour Challenge." In the video, Transit and Dave film themselves creating a top 40 pop song from scratch to prove how easy it is to be "radio friendly." After creating the viral Youtube video, Transit and Dave were approached by KISS star Gene Simmons who was interested in the sound Transit and Dave had created. Rather than pursuing Gene's invitation to set up a showcase for his record label, Transit decided to stay independent in order to maintain his artistic integrity.
Transit has earned the respect from notable artists such as Jann Arden, Madchild, and Kyprios, who have all recently collaborated with Transit. However, his popularity extends past the music industry, as seen by his recent nomination to be Calgary’s first ever Poet Laureate. He is currently finishing his new EP titled “Public Domain” which will be available for free download Summer 2012.
