Music is truly a family affair for Burning Cypress, who lightheartedly call themselves a "band of brothers." Indeed, high school friends Daniel Jones and Jeff Jones founded the band and found themselves soon playing alongside family members Britt Hawkins (brother to Jeff) and Brent Jones (brother to Daniel) with Ricky Rivera rounding out the quintet.
Based out of Gulf Shores, Alabama, this band has a heart for just one thing: touching people's lives through their music. Though they love leading people in worship, they are ready to reach hearts with their hard-hitting original songs. Daniel, who sings lead vocals, began his musical journey at a young age, and later moved from Birmingham to the Gulf Shores area to pursue it professionally and is currently the worship leader at Liberty Church's Foley campus. His brother, Brent, lends his talents on drums to the band, and says his style is influenced "by hip hop and rock." Britt (keys) and his brother Jeff (guitar) both bring unique backgrounds of sound engineering and leading worship to the group. Ricky, the talented bassist, hails from San Diego, and has honed is skills through various groups and ventures throughout the years.
The Band has lived out their mission statement by helping lead worship for events like youth camps and special events, but they are now poised to take their music to a wider audience. Though only forming in 2010, they have already seen such success as, appearing on the #1 ranked morning show in the region, Fox 10's Studio 10 with Cherish Lombard. The band's latest EP released in June 2012, featuring the very best of the band's offerings, backed by the engineering of Matt Damico (Lincoln Brewster, Paul Baloche, Big Daddy Weave), and featuring songs, "Hypocrite", "Can't Get Over You", "Beautiful World", "Troubles", and "Something To Believe In".
