True “faith” is confidence of what we hope for, and assurance of what we do not see. It’s often times easy to speak of faith, but when it comes to taking the “leap”, it can be much more challenging. And a “leap” of faith, is exactly what Jason did just a short time ago.
A graduate of Clearwater Valley High School in Kooskia, Idaho and a lifelong resident of the area, many knew that Jason Schuster had a God given talent of being able to play music by ear. He was the church pianist of Stites Baptist Church for a number of years, and played in many other events around the community. But until the last two years, even Jason didn’t know he sang! After high school, he attended and graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Finance.
During that time, he spent a summer in Nashville doing a marketing internship for Sony Music Records, but after seeing the in’s and out’s of the music business, he decided to pursue his Finance background instead. Upon finishing his degree, Jason took a sales position with an Aerospace and Defense company that allowed him to travel all over the country, even internationally. He didn’t think it could get much better than this!
He made fantastic money, had a large expense account, stayed in fancy hotels and flew first class most everywhere he went. But the growing desire to do what he was created to do, began to overshadow the comfort level Jason had grown accustomed to. Most of the things that he had wanted, he now had, but there was still this emptiness. After six years of climbing the corporate ladder, Jason realized that happiness isn’t in what you can buy, or a dream job, it’s in following a passion and God’s calling on your life.
On July 1st, 2011, Jason resigned from ATK and moved from Lewiston, Idaho to Denver, Colorado. Through God’s divine hand on Jason’s life and music, he was able to release his first album titled “I Believe” on December 21st, 2011. Since then, his two first singles, “I Believe” and “Worth Waiting This Long” both hit the No. 1 spot on CDBaby.com’s charts. Jason also finished in the top 30 of an international song writing competition, and on March 15th, 2012 was the Grand Prize Winner of a new artist search put on by Grammy Award Winning, Southern Gospel singer, Jason Crabb.
It’s no doubt that Jason Schuster made the right decision to step out in faith. And it’s through his example that he hopes others will see that they too can trust God. Not only with their career or direction in life, but with their eternal salvation in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
