116 (pronounced one-one-six) is a Christian hip hop collective from Dallas, Texas. It consists primarily of Reach Records artists like Lecrae, KB, Trip Lee, Tedashii, and Andy Mineo. They are named after the Bible verse Romans 1:16: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile." For them it means acknowledging the power of the Gospel and the divine calling to proclaim it in every area of their life. "We can lay our lives down to serve and glorify God in everything we do."
Debuting with The Compilation Album in 2005, DJ Primo remixed the original recordings the following year with The Compilation Album: Chopped and Screwed. The remix album was released in 2006 and included four bonus tracks. In 2007 they released 13 Letters, the album name representing the 13 letters Paul wrote to first-century Christians. In 2011 they released the Man Up compilation album. They released a single, "Come Alive", based on their 2012 Unashamed Tour. In 2013, 116 released "Now They Know", based on the Unashamed Tour V.

This group is very talented and relevant for this generation. I think although they are not my favorite band, they certainly have some potential! Keep at it guys!

The lyrics in the songs these guys bring are true to the Bible and theologically solid. My favorite song is Fanatics
Very catchy!| Posted September 23, 2009
I wasn't prepared to enjoy this group as much as I do. Rap and Hip Hop are extremely universal in this culture, used for athletic events, advertising, motivational purposes, etc. One could easily incorporate this music into a variety of situations. Very blatant messages. I like it.
