Marthe De La Torre's heart for worship has been ubiquitously woven into her music, communicating a fresh and endearing love for God. Her sincerity and passion shines through. Incorporating strong piano driven melodies and soulful vocal sensibilities, Marthe places her own unique spin on contemporary worship music.
In 2006, a pure love for music brought a young girl 5300 miles, from Oslo, Norway, to Los Angeles, CA to study music at the Musicians Institute Hollywood. Here, Marthe was nurtured and encouraged by many great talents from the world of music. Marthe's love for God and understanding of His grace on her life, lay at the crux of her message, with her music being the voice that shares it. Upon graduation, she embarked on a mission to fulfill her passion, and to make much of Jesus through her gift.
Personal discoveries as well as spiritual development have been pivotal for Marthe as core directions in her writing. For example, "Only You are Holy" is a momentary reflection on God sovereignty, His majesty, and how all creation worships Him. After sensing a "self-focus" in her personal walk, she sat down to write "Hallelujah", a soulful ballad aimed completely at proclaiming the greatness of God. Following a challenging and trying period, which required Marthe to take new steps in faith, another song was written, "You Will Never Let Me Go" which
proclaims God's faithfulness, goodness, and His never ending love for us. "When I sit down at the piano, and I am able to sing and pour myself out to God, it's as if time stands still; nothing else matters, and this is where I feel the
absolute closest to Him. I am able to communicate directly from my heart to His, in my words; no pretense, no expectations, just sincere, honest worship and prayer. From these moments my music is shaped" says Marthe.
Marthe serves as worship leader for The House Los Angeles, a church plant in the Pico Union area of downtown LA. Through their local church, Marthe and her husband have a strong desire to build, encourage and disciple people in their community.
Marthe's debut worship album Preludes releases September 20th, and will be available through iTunes, Amazon, and all other digital distributors.
