Mark Theophilus Jackson was born on August 22, 1980 the youngest born to Pastor John W. Jackson and the Late Mother Sylvia Y. Jackson. Mark was raised in Hubbard, OH where he enjoyed an active childhood with his best friend and brother, Elder Jonathan David Jackson. Church has always been an essential part of his life. He was born into the Heavenly Place C.O.G.I.C. where his uncle, Eld. Stafford Jackson is founder and pastor.
Being raised in the church, Mark became very involved with church activities, and somewhere along the way fell in love with the Lord Jesus Christ and with the hearts of His people. At the early age of seven, Mark was gifted and anointed with a God given ability to play music on the keyboard and organ by ear. He began formal training with Mr. Everett McCollum at the age of ten. Dr. Caroline Oltmanns, Chip Stephens, and Alton Merrell Jr. also became future teachers and developers of his musical craft.
Under the spiritual guidance of his Pastor, Eld. Clarence L. Jackson, October 1, 1993, Mark (13 years of age) officially became the full-time organist and Minister of music for Greater Holy Trinity C.O.G.I.C. in Akron, Ohio where he faithfully served for 15 years.
During that time, the favor and anointing of God continued to grow and develop in his musical and spiritual gifts and abilities. He served Greater Holy Trinity Church of God In Christ as the Minister of Music for 15 years and eventually became the District Minister of Music and a Regional Director of Music for the C.O.G.I.C. Ohio North Jurisdiction No.1. He also served the National Church of God in Christ as a youth director and currently teaches the Music Theory classes for the International AIM Convention of the Church of God in Christ. He was ordained an Elder of the Church of God in Christ in 2009. In 1998, Mark T. Jackson founded the Youngstown State University Gospel Choir. He is a member of the Alpha Kappa Mu Scholastic Honor Society. Also, he is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
Mark Jackson is currently a member and serves as Minister of Music and Director of Performing Arts at “The Word” Church, www.wordcity.org, under the leadership of his Pastor, Dr. R. A. Vernon. Presently, Mark Jackson holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from the Dana School of Music, and a Masters of Science in Education Degree from Youngstown State University. He has most recently completed another Masters Degree of Practical Theology at Ashland Theological Seminary. He taught in the Youngstown inner city school system for seven years as a music educator. He now teaches privately at his own school, Genesis School of the Creative & Performing Arts.
Mark Jackson has shared the stage performing with a numerous amount of renown Recording Artists and Preachers. He has shared the stage with Mali Music, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, John P. Kee, Tye Tribbett, J. Moss, Bebe & Cece Winans, Marvin Winans, The Clark Sisters, Kiki Sheard, Myron Butler, Donald Lawrence, Richard Smallwood, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, Rance Allen, Deitrick Haddon, Mary Mary, Marvin Sapp, Donnie McClurkin, Bishop Paul Morton, William Murphy, The Nevels Sisters, Shirley Ceasar, Kim Burrell, Yolanda Adams, Beverly Crawford, Jonathan Nelson, the Late Timothy Wright, and many more.
He has released a CD and Live DVD entitled CALLING ALL WORSHIPERS with his worship ensemble, Mark T. Jackson & Final Call whose mission is to minister music to and from the heart of God. He most recently produced and released a CD for Victory Media Publishing, Co. LLC entitled "We're Amazed", Live Worship At "The Word" Vol. 2 with Dr. R. A. Vernon & "The Word" Church Praise Team. He is now releasing an instrumental worship CD entitled, In His Presence, Instrumental Worship Music Vol. 1
Mark is an artist, songwriter, administrator, producer, musician, preacher, composer, director, teacher, public speaker and desires to become an author and whatever else the Lord calls him to be. Most importantly, Mark accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of ten. He is filled with the Holy Spirit and operates in the gifts of the Spirit. He has answered his call to ministry and his ultimate desire is to win souls to Christ and live a life pleasing in the sight of the Lord.
