Hey! This is Kacey writing. I thought it would be more personal if I wrote my own bio. Maybe less coherent, as I'm not great with words. Melodies and harmonies? I'm your girl!
I began songwriting in college at 18 or 19, when I was studying to get my bachelor's in piano performance. I immediately fell in love with it, but I wasn't quite ready to share that part of myself with the world yet. I eventually became comfortable enough to start performing some of my songs around town with different friend-musicians.
Since the day I wrote my first song, I had been wanting to write a praise or Christian song. There was always something stopping me- "I don't have anything to offer God." "I'll write one when I'm more sure of my song-writing." "It has to be perfect and amazing and I can't do that." These are all thoughts that stopped me for years. Now I'm a little older and wiser. God has shown me that He can work through me, imperfections and all. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I can give it my all. Don't be afraid to use the gifts that God has given you.
Now 30, I'm going full steam ahead with Christian song/writing. My album "The Depths" has really been in the works for 5 years. I just didn't know it 5 years ago! The oldest song on the album is "Beauty in the Vine." I am notorious for changing lyrics over and over again. This one wasn't even a praise song when I started it, but morphed into one over the years of changes. The two newest songs were written after recording had already started for the album. They are "The Winds and Waters" and "Do Not Weep." I liked them so much when I wrote them that I bumped some older songs.
The first question people ask when I tell them I'm a songwriter is "What do you sound like?" That is the hardest question to answer for a songwriter. You want to write something completely original that doesn't fit in any box, but people still want to fit you in somewhere. So I will just say I am an eclectic singer/ songwriter. Just listen and you decide. I can tell you a few influences on my music though: Ben Folds, Sara Mclachlan, Mamas and Papas, Beach House, Mates of State, Beethoven, Debussy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Matt Redman, Tori Amos and many more.
Random Kacey facts: My musical journey began at age 9 when I started piano lessons. My spiritual journey began at age 13 when I gave my life to Christ at a summer youth camp, Falls Creek. I did not grow up in church, but became a church member at 17. I was the pianist for one summer at age 13 at a traditional Baptist church. I've played on contemporary worship teams since age 17. I am married to the funniest man in the world, Clint and have a 3 year old son, Isaac (Ike). We live in Oklahoma City and attend Eastpoint Church.

A worshipful artist with a unique type of talented voice that I usually hear with more moody music. Also has creative lyrics, and pretty, often upbeat music. Interested in hearing what comes next- best wishes for success in your music! :)
