Singer, songwriter, worship leader and Christ follower, Debra pioneered Worship on the Square, an organization bringing the church body together in the city center to worship God and bring awareness to social causes in the city. She released her debut single entitled "More Than Enough, " May of 2012 and is now fully pursuing her dream to lead people in worship and is releasing her full-length album August, 12, 2014. Over the past year she entered the studio and started recording her first album, God In Every Season.
"The journey leading up to this release has been far surpassing any greater thing I have experienced on a personal level with the Lord. He has brought me to this place of surrendering my all to Him and I'm ready to see what HE does. He has been an integral part of showing me that Jesus is enough, for my every need. Realizing His plans are far greater than anything I could dream of or ask. He has shown me that there is a time and season for everything under heaven; that His desire is to make everything beautiful in time. There truly is beauty in everything, even the pain, even in the suffering. There is beauty in the breakdown, in the death, in the resting/renewal times, and of course in the growing time. Every season under heaven has a particular plan by Our God to make us more like Him, if we let Him. He is why I live, and why I know love. I'm ready for this adventure and can't wait to see what this next season holds." -Debra Black
Debra has been leading worship for over 10 years and has had the privilege
of teaching what living a life of worship actually looks like.
"We are all leaders of worship, but I have a microphone in my hand and the ability to proclaim it to the body, the church. If you breathe, you have life and are called to lead people to the Savior Jesus Christ through the way you live. I always say if you sing or lead people in worship and have the platform of a stage, you might be on that stage three percent of your life, but what makes the most impact is what you do with the 97 percent of your life off the stage. The stage is your overflow of love for the Lord; an act of thanksgiving for what God has already done in your life. It is my response to God's love and my obedience to His calling on my life--that is why I sing. I want people to know I am real and genuine and truly in love the God of creation."
Debra has had the privilege of leading worship for many women's conferences and retreats, Sunday morning worship services and teaming up with non profit organizations, like Women's Crisis pregnancy. She has also spent time teaming up with Wellspring Living, a non-profit organization confronting the issue of sexual abuse and exploitation through awareness, training and treatment programs for women and girls, as a worship leader, advocate, and financial supporter. She serves at the women's home and leads worship at awareness events, charity galas, and fundraisers for Wellspring Living.
"I love this organization! I love what they stand for, but more importantly what they bring to these hurting women; hope through Jesus. I'm so excited to be working with them and to be an advocate of restoration."
Moving forward, Debra Black is pursuing music full time with the release of her album. She is excited to see what doors the Lord opens for her. Glory to God!
