Farewell Flight exists as a four-piece rock band meshing an atmospheric and textured guitar sound over stark piano melodies and drumbeats, delivering a package resembling an experimental twist on Coldplay and Jimmy Eat World, with a splash of sentiment reminiscent of Death Cab For Cutie or Matt Pond PA. After drifting along on their respective life paths, the current band assembled in September 2005 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a hotbed for cover bands and thirtysomething rockers stuck in a perpetual 90's time warp.
Not the ideal place to cultivate a fresh sound, but a place nonetheless, and still somewhat more favorable than a commune in the Nevada desert. After developing their music with three members for several months, lead singer and guitarist Luke Foley, drummer Marc Prokopchak, and bassist Robbe Reddinger were eventually joined in May 2006 by additional guitarist Timmy. Throughout it all, the band has developed a strong fan base in the central PA area and beyond, stemming from their invigorating live show and the release of three EPs, all recorded and produced in Foley's apartment.
Over the years the band has completed seven east coast/midwest self-booked tours through 29 different states, due in large part to their undying and relentless DIY mentality. They recorded a fourth EP, Lost at Sea, six tracks of introspective takes on the tragedies and flaws that eventually lead to the greatest absolutions in life.
