Avery Road is a music duo comprised of Jason Burton and Tim Wade. Hailing from Central Virginia and coming together as only God ordained things do, their story is a great one.
The duo formed in the Winter of 2015 and quickly got to work on their first record. Both Tim and Jason have been performing, leading worship, and working within the Christian music industry for the better part of their adult lives. Tim as an engineer, producer, and musician at studios in Asheville, NC and his own studio in Midlothian, VA ,where he has been at the helm for multiple records. He has been the worship leader and youth leader at Jetersville Baptist Church in Amelia, VA for 8 years as well. Tim also served as lead vocalist for the group, "Never Alone"over the last several years.
Jason has spent most of the last 15 years making music, leading worship, doing concerts, and writing songs and releasing cd's as part of the duo "Belief" with his sister and then touring solo and with his wife, Kristi. He toured nationally and even had two singles break into the top 20 on the national Christian Radio Weekly charts while with Belief in the early 2000's.
God had been preparing Tim and Jason both for this brand new step in their lives for awhile. "I had been feeling that the solo music and ministry thing was coming to a close back in the Fall of 2014", says Jason. "Kristi and I prayed and fasted as to what the next step was. I was willing and ready to step back from music and do whatever it was God was calling me to. I felt I knew deep down, though, that music was still a part of it. I had a lot of songs I had written just waiting to be put out there." Right after a fast specifically for direction in life with the church he and Kristi attend , a call came from Tim. "I was seeking God as well with what my next step in life and ministry should be", Tim says. "After serving in several roles at Jetersville Baptist Church for 8 years I felt the Lord was leading in a different direction." After multiple conversations and times of prayer the two felt that indeed this was the answer to prayer they both were seeking. Avery Road was born.
It's not as though the two don't have musical history. After co-producing Jason's last two solo cd's and also playing bass and piano on several occasions in Jason's band while on the road, there was a definite musical connection and a friendship born.
Both Tim and Jason will say that the purpose of Avery Road is not just to do another cd or to be just another artist out there touring or anything less than to fulfill the call of God on their lives. "It's easy to try and do things in your own wisdom and strength", says Jason. "This new duo is totally God's thing and we're submitted to Him for direction, purpose, and ministry." A commitment to seeing people's lives changed by the power of the truth of the Gospel message is paramount to their purpose. "When we put out a cd or come into a place to play we want the people that listen to have an encounter with the living God.", says Tim. The band's purpose and desire is to see Jesus glorified.
Musically, Avery Road is a unique combination of progressive Southern Gospel/country and contemporary Christian. In concert the duo shares stories and testimonies and plays mostly original songs that have that unique brand of music that they make. Jason plays guitar and sings lead mostly and Tim plays keys and sings some lead and harmony vocals. "We both felt that there was a market for a progressive Southern Gospel sound that had elements of country and contemporary in it. It's exciting to see what the future hold for these two young men.
