Kay Sade was born in 1992 in Norfolk, Virginia and raised in Ewing, New Jersey. She began studying the performing arts of dance, singing and instrumental performance at a young age. Around the age of 5, Sade memorized her first rap song, Quincy Jones' "Back on the Block". From then, she developed an expansive mental library of memorized rap lyrics. In middle school, she translated this ability to internalize lyrics with her love for playing instruments and began producing instrumentals and writing songs. She was introduced to Christian Hip Hop in high school, and began her journey into CHH shortly after starting her freshman year of college.
In 2016, Sade graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee with her Bachelor's of Science in Audio Engineering Technology and a Minor in Music Business. Her sights are set on sound design and music composition for film along with music supervision.
Sade continued her pursuits in Christian Hip-Hop as one half of the duo, TheKnuBlack. She was named a Rapzilla Freshman of 2017, and has been featured on one of the biggest terrestrial Hip-Hop radio stations in the US, Hot 97. TheKnuBlack disbanded in 2018.
Kay Sade looks forward to sharing her musical world and ideas, her insights and observations, and her devotion to Christ with each new project. Be on the watch for fresh material by following her on Instagram, Twitter and Spotify and subscribing on YouTube.
