After seeing the directing abilities of his great-grandmother, Demetrius West began a passion for gospel music. With the inspiration of many teachers that have helped him along the way, it was no surprise that Demetrius would develop leadership and euphonious musical talents with speed.
Since 2004, Demetrius has committed himself to the advancement of the kingdom and has assisted with many choirs, groups, soloist, and musicians. He has traveled the length and breadth of the United States of America conducting workshops and seminars to help other ministries perfect their gifts and talents. Demetrius has worked with and shared the stage with many Gospel and Christian artists such as Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Chris Tomlin, Byron Cage and Bishop William Murphy, to name a few.
Demetrius released his new critically acclaimed album Jesus Promoter in 2015 featuring "God of Everything" with the award-winning Earnest Pugh; who lends his vocal ability on the track. Demetrius put together a 40-voice choir named Jesus Promoters to accompany him on this effort.
In August of 2017, Demetrius West and JP inked a record deal with Blacksmoke Music Worldwide, spear-headed by gospel icon and hit-maker, Kerry Douglas. Their much-anticipated album, ChoirOlogy, released in 2018 and included the Billboard top radio hit, "Open the Floodgates." They returned in June 2020 with Do It Again, which features the hit "I'm Next" and includes guest performances by Earnest Pugh, Joshua Rogers, Pam Westbrook, Denise Tichenor Davis, and Kymar Garner.
Demetrius is currently the Minister of Music and Arts and faithful member of the Westside Missionary Baptist Church where Michael O. Bryant is Pastor in Indianapolis, IN. He is married to the lovely Shalette West and they have one beautiful daughter, Zanobia Denise.
